As a South African, a lot of us were disgusted by how this situation was handled, I grew up in Pretoria around Nigerians, Ghanaians, Congolese, Zimbabweans and Kenyans, we are supposed to be the rainbow nation but the government loves to blame foreign BLACK people for everything wrong in our country even when their citizenship has been declared In the past xenophobia caused many deaths , abuse from the police and kids getting kicked out of schools It's not as bad as it use to be, but it's still horrible Some South African individuals logic baffle me, we don't claim that energy 😂😂

There is a difference between Xenophobia and Black South Africans fighting for their representation and place in South Africa. Personally, I think the bullying was unnecessary..however I would have preferred, still do, that Miss SA be someone who will carry the South African identity wholeheartedly and represent it ..... CHIDIMMA clearly exotified herself by putting "🇳🇬🇲🇿" on her bio hence people found it difficult to relate to her and support her as one of us. 🤷🏽♀️ Besides each African country or at least most , send delegates to Miss Universe , so her being African /black was not enough..or made her more deserving to win Miss SA.

There is nothing wrong with acknowledging that we are all Africans HOWEVER we can still acknowledge that we are in fact not a monolith and each one of us deserve representation. Chidimma being black in South Africa did not mean she was deserving to win Miss SA ... preferably as a black SA woman I would like to be represented by someone I relate most to i.e Onalenna , Nompumelelo ect who not only will represnt SA but carry the identity of being a black South African wholeheartedly and represent it correctly again an example of this was Zozibini ( Miss Universe 2019) she worn this stunning dress with Xhosa bead work ...for most of us we felt seen , we saw our cultural fashion being paraded so elegantly and felt represented ... It was obvious from the start that she is a Nigerian woman and we all know we were never going to see the end of it ..with people calling themselves "gaints" and seeking to undermine and have a sense of dominance/superiority over others ..so choosing a local delegate will forever be the best option . With that being said ..cyber bullying her was unnecessary but she was still not the preferred representation. I preferred Onalenna to win Miss SA but Mia had a compelling story.
