@BriefCase is this box game Hunt a Killer something that can be worked on as a group ? Example: have friends meet up one night a month and work on clues & divide up the case work on separately then meet up again a month later. Or is this something a group can work through in a few hours on one Friday evening ? Just wondering. Thank you.

Perhaps it was the employee who tried to poison her husband in Paris by replacing the cakes with one big poison one... But if so, why? And what about the food her husband I consumed before he died? Could he have been poisoned by her mother-in-law in order to implicate her? And if this is true, why would the Mother-in-law want to poison her own son? Did she have the medical knowledge to think or know that at that point he was dying anyway, and thus more poison would not really make any difference? And beyond that? Was the employee that her husband took to Paris in cahoots with the mother of her husband in some evil plan that never made it to court?

Maybe his employee did it and continued to poison him after to be able to marry her and get the big house. So many possibilities!

The 'witness' who saw her putting powders into her husband's food could not corroborate their claim. The food samples were kept in a cupboard that anyone could access and tamper with them. This was far too shoddy and all heresay. And why did the worker take days to hand over the parcel with the little cakes? Sounds like more than one person wanted her gone.

What I want to know is whether that employee she found so untrustworthy who replaced the tiny cakes with the big cake possibly if he ever had access to her husband at the home or was staying with them in the house? Why would she kill her husband I wonder? She really did take the diamonds obviously but whether the Marquis was lying and trying to set her up by telling Marie the blackmail story and the police that she felt Marie stole them can't be known. But even if she did take the diamonds I don't see how that means she murdered her husband. I just really suspect that one guy. Why would Marie write she sent tiny cakes if she sent one big cake? Could someone else in the home have replaced the tiny cakes? Perhaps trying to frame Marie? The mother in law? The sister? The friend who allegedly saw Marie putting white powder in the cups? I just don't think there's enough evidence to convict her.

Imagine getting married to someone whose home you've never even visited, and only heard through what sounds like 3rd party sources? What if you guys ended up hating each-other? What's so wrong with at least feeling things out a little while engaged?

could it even be possible that they didn't know at The time to not use the same dishes they prepared arsenic for purpose of killing rodents as they prepared the food? what means did they use to wash dishes in those days? it could have been a terrible mistake

you're right. nations have some weird habits. when i got to new zealand i would watch ladies wash dishes in soap, not rinse them in water, but to put them in the drying rack. gagged me out. being american i rinse in hot water or put into my dish washer.

So glad this crafty, gold-digging little mouse got her comeuppance. Thank God her mother in law was in the house, to advocate for her son. Without her, the servant who witnessed the poisoning would never have gotten an audience.

Great video as always. Have you ever thought of making a fictioninal crime and narrating and editing it like normal and challenge your viewers to solve which in a series of 3 or 5 episodes it is? Or perhaps have a contest where your viewers write their own crime story and you pick the winner and make a Brief Case of it.

This verdict would never stick today. The "evidence" for who murdered him is based on conjecture. She may or may not have been guilty but "guilty beyond reasonable doubt"? No way. Thanks again for your great work in putting this together. Say "Hi" to Brief Cat for me.😻
