@@Eric-lp3ic Yeah...story from like 80 years ago, set in an isolated and superstitious town, with no evidence and most of the residency gone for the night. Exactly the sort of story a local legend or conspiracy theory is based on. Despite people's misgivings of cameras being everywhere, I do think it helps keep some of the shadows of ignorance at bay...which might be the very reason some people are hell bent on making up their own shadows.

Some more information I found here in Brazil: There is an interview recorded in 1974 with João's cousin who was by his side on his deathbed, it is almost 45 minutes long but is in Portuguese. According to his cousin the story is a little different, for example it says that he was hit by light when trying to open the window and that after being hit he walked about 2km to the house of the first person who helped him. This cousin of his did not describe his skin as purple but rather white. Another thing is that apparently where there was clothing it was not burned. This cousin of his, who was a very simple person, described it as "cooked" and not as "fried" as one would think. Another thing is that the local people often saw lights in the sky and that shortly after the incident, his cousin saw two lights near his house.

I had never heard of this story before, even though I'm from Brazil! I'll definitely deep dive to find out more theories about what happened to João. Also, I'm so glad I clicked on this video, because the entire atmosphere of this story was so perfectly depicted! I can actually imagine my grandparents telling me similar stories and popular tales that every Brazilian heard when they were young. Boitatá is one of the most common tales that we've been hearing since we were kids, and these stories about "paranormal" incidents in small towns are also sooooo familiar to me! I am actually from Northern Brazil, where the the other "UFO" case happened, and that is one of the stories my grandpa used to tell me ❤

It's odd you say mostly unknown and then mentioned the Kandahar giant because I had heard that story 10 times before mr. Ballen ever told it. I think what is mostly Unknown about the stories is mostly unknown to you. If you read the comments you'll notice many people add to the stories or talk about how it happened near where they live, or that they knew someone involved. I will agree with you however that he does a great job telling the stories. The only person who told the Kandahar giant story better was one of the men who claimed to have been there in an interview. I agree that the True Crime genre is becoming increasingly over saturated with the same stories/cases over and over. That being said I branched out from my favorite channels and found creators out there who are just as awesome but less well known. They have new cases I’ve never heard before or they tell in a totally different manner that made it new again to me. I agree that Mr. Ballen has a great mixture of true crime, dark and mysterious content! It’s his storytelling format and content that has shot him to the top. I’ve followed him for a while now and watched every single episode he put out when I first subscribed. I spend way too much time on KZbin listening to sooo many cases or stories. If anyone wants recommendations on other true crime channels that are just not as well known but should be….I’m happy to share them with a small description of their unique formats. Some of them that live outside the United States have been great because they have content that aren’t as well known to the US. I recently started watching all of Kimbyrleigha’s channel! There were inconsistencies with the extent of Joāo's injuries. Although there were reports of flesh falling off, his brother reported it as only his hands and face being burned, with no flesh falling off, and the doctors also only reported it as burns consistent with radiation, no skin falling off in chunks. His clothing remained intact and unaffected, which would be inconsistent with being hit with a big beam of indiscriminate light. If it was simply his face and hands that took the brunt of it, ball lightning is a possibility. He stuck his head by the window, and was struck in the face and head by it, and saw the extreme blinding light of an electrical volt. It would also explain why his hands were charred to a black, clawlike crisp, beyond recognition, per his brother. There was a nearby mine, with tales of mysterious fireball creatures for years. Mines have pockets of methane that can catch on fire and create fireballs. Perhaps, he was burned by one of these methane fireballs, his hands took the brunt of the fire, his face took the majority of the heat and gasses, before it burned out. Sudden flares from the mine were what they saw as monsters. These mines were everywhere in Brazil, which could account for the other cases as well. I'm just happy that he didn't suffer in pain in the end. May he rest in peace.

@QockNobblr

The injuries are inconsistent with *conventional* radiation burns as those are either caused by UV rays (sunburn) or by x-rays (like with nuclear events like fukishima or atomic bombs). They are consistent with gamma rays however. Gamma rays would simply leave basically everything unaffected and with minimal fallout, especially in a concentrated beam. It would only affect living organic matter due to concentrations of iron, potassium, calcium, carbon and water in addition to the innate electro magnetic field of living things. Even then, the radiation would effectively disappear from where it hit in his home within minutes or hours. It would rapidly degrade structures like skin, mucles tissue and veins and arteries while also coagulating blood due to the build up of cells that are radioactively shredded into proteins, which would explain why he survived for so long without bleeding out and why his skintone changed as without oxygenated blood, his skintone would quickly change. The muscle would liquify before the skin, as the melanin would protect the skin cells a lil bit more, until it degrades and bursts in blisters from the increasing pressure of the liquified muscle. Nerve cells, being made up primarily of fatty acids, would be mostly unaffected as they contain less water and less dense materials like iron. Meaning the entire time your nerve endings would remain intact and your brain doesn't turn into soup within seconds, meaning the nervous system functions well enough to receive pain signals still, but without blood vessels intact enough to carry endorphins throughout the body you'd feel *everything* with no pain relieving hormones in the body. Also no hormones would be able to be sent to the rest of the body to send it into shock. You'd still be able to move as some muscle tissues would remain and the ligaments and joints can still retract and extend. His injuries as described are very consistent with what would happen from exposure to concentrated gamma rays, not thermal nor electrical burns. Thermal burns would kill all the nerve endings and electrical burns would leave tell tale signs like inability to move, melted eyes, blood boiling and causing it to explode out of the extremities, in an instant. Bonus bit of info, gamma rays would turn certain structures into nuclear fallout, which would cause thermal burns in places like the extremities, and as those ions degrade into less dense atoms and compounds, some would be toxic, potentially even causing exothermic chemical reactions in the extremities causing further thermal burns. Trust me on this stuff, I was in CBRN in the marine corps. I had a weird fixation on wierd morbid shit like this in case weapons become developed from them. Like aerosolized elemental sodium (very very scary shit. It sets your blood on fire from the inside, as well as any and all mucus membranes and sweat, leaving you to scream in pain until yout esophogeal tract is burnt to a crisp and you just writhe in pain while only being able to meakly wease in pain)

@QockNobblr
@QockNobblr Жыл бұрын
@@goodbyemr.anderson5065 I was simply listing off the effects of concentrated gamma radiation exposure, and saying his injuries as described more closely match. There is no direct evidence, because who tf is gonna willing expose themselves to hyperlethal amounts of concentrated gamma rays. Also, nuclear events, which are the leading cause of radiation related deaths, aside from skin cancer caused by the sun, are all caused primarily from x-rays, which are less energetic and kill in weeks to a couple of months. However, some very similar effects happen, but much more slowly. Like the dude who melted on a molecular level in a japanese hospital following the fukishima meltdown, dying after 68 days of excruciating pain. His skin turned purple, then blisters began forming, bursting open, skin began falling and sloughing off. His blood was basically jelly from all the blood cells being turned into proteins. His body was mildy radioactive as it itself became fallout, causing further radiation damage. He had to undergo numerous blood transfusions to stay alive as his blood was very thick, even being resusitated numerous times. The radioactive particulates caused minor thermal burns within his body and extremities, before the affected tissues sloughed off. Eventually he died because all his blood vessels no longer had the integrity necessary to carry blood to his brain without rupturing and he died. Like I said, this all happened slowly over the course of 68 days. Yes, he felt everything and reported a constant burning sensation when not on pain killers. Gamma rays would cause much more ...expedient and violent results on organic material, whilst leaving behind minimal traces of radioactivity in the environment except in living organisms. Don't ask me how he received the dose of gamma rays, because that's the big mystery.

In Uganda it's usually on Sunday in the afternoons when your story comes on my timeline. You can't imagine how many times I keep refreshing my feed for it and the ecstasy I feel when I see there's a new upload. Oh man, already looking forward to next week's episode.

Mr Ballen has the best form of storytelling. He'll go into detail about things so you can picture it in your head, he'll begin to speed up when there's action happening or it's a tense scene, it's like reading a fantastic book. Love it, Mr Ballen!

This sounds like acute radiation poisoning. Bright light, feeling of burning without burns, parts of the body falling off, and the quickness of death. This also could be like the Japanese power plant worker, and it sounds similar to the way the man in this story died.

@explorer The interesting thing is that he clearly didn't bleed to death. Despite his body falling apart. I would expect that, if the body is this damaged, that he would just start bleeding profusely. If his flesh is falling of his bones, than how are his veins still intact. That doesn't sound like radiation to me.
@hanslanda8303

@explorer wrong. Stop spreading misinformation. He actually wanted to stay alive for the sake of his family and although he wanted to just die, he preferred to be selfless and stick it out for his families sake because he was hopeful. The doctors and researchers were very transparent with his family and would have 2+ hour meetings every day discussing their course of action and changes along with informing the family of any changes. The family even moved into the hospital waiting room and were living there the whole time he was in the hospital and visited with him often. Do some research before you vilify the brave and selfless doctors.
