In this video, I'll give you the definitive view on how to built high-DPS characters in The Division. This isn't about ONE build being better than the rest; it's about arming you with the principles to be able to make whatever build you enjoy playing work. The stuff I talk about in this video can be applied to any DPS focused build- it is not specific to one gearset.

I have Built a 4 piece hunters mark, 2 piece nomad mostly because I could get all the rolls on the gear you show in the video. Skill Up, personally I am loving the new 1.4 update. I had taken more than a month and a half off from the game.The game became the same old same old. However, I truly believe that the greatest improvement thru all of this. Is that a huge successful company like MASSIVE realized that they needed a hands on approach from its playing base. Allowing a group of gamers and ordinary folk to come to their facility. To get everyone together on the same page, and to bring this game once again out of darkness and to the forefront. Still watching this video. This information is delivered so well. The condensed version was nice but this video gives the "why" and more in depth coverage. With just my random gear I was at 46% armor mitigation...after this I'm running alphabridge and two pc high end until I can find the nomad pcs I need and now I'm at 55% armor armor mitigation. My m60 combined with predatory, deadly, destructive I'm having a blast fine tuning this. I'm going to start building more funds to build my assault rifle build with this set up!! No,I'm not buttering you up to pop a surprise in, this I stand by since DAY ONE!Just to be clear, that does not mean by any stretch of the imagination that I have and will ignore other very very good content providers. It just means that you represent the best PvE providers I turn to. I'd kill to have 10-15 , it just means are are always thinking, as am I. That armor with enough toughness and Stamina are the best was possible way to get what you and I are targeting. I just can't get there, I pray on my recently deceased wife's honor that you are me first source of info on this game, I'm primarily solo, need to find some crew to run with and I'm stuck in the analysis paralysis mode and I'm steadily sliding backwards. I can't help but get the feeling that we think very much alike, The difference being that you can walk the talk and I can barely talk the talk let alone walk it. this video is my bible to date. One of your best videos! Super clear message, nice walkthrough. I were in the ballpark at least on my build ideas but this video makes everything super clear. With the few drops I got in 1.3 I never really cared about opting gear, I were glad I got a piece for my set. Now in 1.4 one can start looking at the optimized "best in slot". It's awesome!

Do exactly this. Now, also get 3 Gears of Hunter's Faith (20% more Elite Damage) and 3 Gears of Sentry's Call (20% more Elite Damage). Nothing fancy, but straight forward and very effective. Also, gives 30% more headshot damage. The Marksman crit damage is negligible at worst, but the other three features are fantastically useful.

Patch 1.4 has brought big changes to the game since 1.3, especially for solo players like me. I like what they have done on the time to kill enemy mobs and boss and how you could get more faster. More power to you skill up for providing with this kind of videos

Thanks to this video, I was able to solo the DZ (DZ 6, at that) successfully taking on 3 or less NPCs. I avoided any and all players, rogues or otherwise for now. Even got a few good extractions in the process. Excellent Vid.

This works!!! Thanks Skill Up! Was getting wrecked in PvE after 1.4 landed. Rolling Armour on everything made a huge difference. Will work on fine tuning weapon talents and maybe play with an Alpha Bridge build at some point.

Wow, this is basically my PTS week 3-4 build, but with 4xAlpha/2xNomad vs my 3xHunter's Faith/3xNomad in the PTS. Otherwise, all the stat & attribute bonus logic is exactly the same: first stack armor, then damage to elites/enemy armor damage, then headshot damage, then toss in a little utility healing for good measure. Worked very well for me :) Also, great video overall, and I, personally, very much appreciate your 'long' and in-depth explanations (unlike some other people around here, lol). Understanding the LOGIC of a recommendation is far more useful than simply knowing the recommendation with no understanding of the reasoning behind it.

Great vid as always. I knew most if it but the character Talent section was a good call. I'm running 4pc Alpha with Hungry Hog + Pakhan (Brutal, Destructive, Ferocious, Predatory, Stable, Meticulous). Just sublime laser-like gun-play that melts everything!

Hey Skillup. Thanks so much for this video. I just returned to the game having not played since before 1.2. I was having a hell of a time clearing stuff. Managed to get my hands on an M60 with predatory on it and switched to this build. I have no complete set pieces and just with Yellow gear changed to have the stats you described I am now clearing my way through the game. Gone from world 1 to 4 in little over 6 hours and really got a love for the game back. If not for this video I doubt i would have continued.

What I love about 1.4 is how it has brought back players and fun to the game, I've been a fan since day one and played through 1.3 as much as I would get frustrated I still love this game for everything that it is. and it just continues to get better! I'm really ecstatic for 1.5, and I REALLY need a headset so those ASTROS would honestly be a dream come true I've always wanted a pair of ASTRO headsets. but this is more about the game and how much 1.4 has made a huge difference in the gameplay and the thing I like most about it is that I am still grinding for gear and weapons to make my toughness and dps the best it can be.

You are right on the mark, S.U. Your gameplay footage has been my experience, exactly (running solo). My (v1.3) GS255 agent is so much stronger with all of my gear set pieces on v1.4 now. I was never able to last more than a few minutes running solo on Challenge mode prior to v1.4. This is the most fun I've ever had playing this game since my pre-Level 30 missions. I have a little more than you spec'd into Skill Power at the expense of Stamina but I offset this using Smart Cover (with Health recovery) and Pulse which allows me to still take on Challenge Mode content. One other thing, I'm an LMG guy and I think rolling stability talent (as a console gamer) is better than rolling headshot damage.

This was incredibly helpful. I didn't really understand the recalibration system until you explained it. Though some of it was built specifically around your play style of run right up to the enemies which is pretty much the exact opposite of mine so those bits were less than useful.

Thanks Skill Up. Much needed video. I personally like a little more skill power. Currently running 4 piece Striker and 2 piece Lone Star with a M60 and LVOA. The stability from 2 piece striker with the M60 makes it very easy to hit your target and stack the damage from 4 piece striker. Currently sitting at 207k DPS, 260k Toughness, and 116K Skill power. With max stack from striker DPS jumps up to 390k max.

Thanks Skill Up, for me this is helpful. I do hope you understand that this just underscores the problem with the Division... the majority of players just want to play the game, and don't have time to dig through videos and guides to understand what armor values they need, what mods to put on weapons, etc. For those players, the game is still WAY too hard. You get all 229 pieces quick sure... but just picking up and wearing the 229 gear you find without modding or respecing then you just can't survive most content. What I'd love is to pick up a backpack, and be able to look at a rating and see in a couple seconds if it was better or worse than what I had, and either wear it or toss it.

The entire game is amazing. I love pvp and pve. it's so hard to choose my favorite aspect of the game because I've been playing since launch. even during the hard times (1.3) I stayed strong I couldn't stay away for more then a day. But If I have to choose my favorite aspect I would say "build diversity". In the past week of the 1.4 patch I have done more theory crafting then I ever thought I could and I'm just scratching the surface. it's the best it's ever been. It's back in its prime. I can't wait to see what survival has in store for us!

Honestly my favorite thing in the game is how they rebalanced the gear sets. We are not forced to play a certain way with a certain gear set anymore. As a result, the overall attitude of the players has drastically improved. You don't really see 5 or 6 man groups because of this and people are more willing to randomly help you clear a boss without even joining you. It feels like at the beginning of the game where people would just help each other just to be nice and that's a start to building a better and more positive community. I hope this continues. Good job Massive. Let's show them our support and keep this amazing game alive.

I never rely on my DPS meter. Instead I check what damage numbers I'm getting in the firing range, which is why they should add an elites target down there. This build is great! I was using it in the PTS, and I am trying to put it back together now.

I hear that- it's very fair commentary. I guess the choice I have made is to always be really complete with the way I talk about the big/important stuff. There's lots of youtubers out there who will give you the 5 min 'BIS solo build' vid, but I'm actually far more interested in helping people get to the point where they don't need to watch my vids at all, because they understood the core fundamentals of the game so well that my channel isn't actually useful to them. Yes just what I was missing enemy armour damage now that I've rolled it on the right pieces of gear it has really helped, I'm running 3 sentry and 3 strikers and I'm melting everything I also rolled destructive on my LVOA so you can imagine.

Good job. I am running almost the same build, it's not the build i use at all situations, it's just the build i use for NPC farming. I solo 90% of the time. I do not care about gear sets for this build with the exception of the 2 pice nomad. I also added savage gloves and a vigerous chest pice. Challenging content is still not "easy" though. On console it is still tough (i play on XBOX) I am still not fully done with the build yet, i am in need of two gear mods with armor. In it's current state i am sitting at 55.49 armor and 150K health. My G36 has ~215k DPS my M60 ~180K. Keep up the good work and greetings from germany!

Skill Up, I run 4 striker/ 2 nomad with Hungry Hog primary and a 163 Medved. I rolled Destructive into the third slot of the Hungry Hog because i love stability and predatory and left the Medved as is. I got the Medved doing WT2 Clear Sky runs. I was going to throw it away, but after getting full striker bonus (which is insanely easy with the shotgun) that 163 shotgun outputs 200k damage per shot. I'm sure if it were 229, the damage could be higher, but keeping it at 163 lets me activate ferocious without needing to spec into electronics. To test it, I did a simple trial of Lexington on Challenging. Small enemies were getting destroyed by the Medved and I used the Hungry Hog to make short work of the LMG enemies. Larae Barrett went down in just a clip of the Medved. Also, at the rate at which I kill stuff, the 23% HoK I have is insane when combined with the predatory. It's like a medkit.

Great video man! I'm using 3 piece Predators mark 2 piece Nomad and a specialized backpack. 4200 FA, 337K toughness and 88K SP. it's a decent build. Looking for that Predators Mark backpack to finish my build but I love specialized. So the bleed isn't super necessary. But I can solo the dark zone and everything else. With a challenge but not an incredibly punishing one. I've min maxed my build as much as possible. I love it so far. Finally got a Miltary G36 with Prepared, Responsive and ferocious and I love it. And a M60 with Brutal, destructive and ferocious. Need to try an incursion finally and get my backpack.

if anyone did not notice yet, it is MUCH easier to do content solo than with a group, i think they made it scale exponentially with number of players in a group, so if you want farm effectively do it solo, you might die every now and then, but over all it will be faster

Skill Up console players need the 100% mag size increase on the M60 (and other LMGs) because the first 50 rounds are buried in the roof, floor and walls around the target. Only after then it seems to be semi-controllable.

I played a lot with both of them and for DPS the AR's shits on the LMG's but you need to increase the magazine size.

i like the ARs. my dmg per bullet is 21.1k plus i always run destructive. and all ARs roll with armor dmg. im sitting at 51% armor dmg and they just melt and im not even rolling with my final weapon. need ferosious in the third slot. thanks skill up didnt even think i could get it cuz of the electronics requirements. totally spaced that the third slot is free.

Yeah I'm enjoying my ARs right now too, I'm running a G36 as my primary and a nicely rolled LVOAc as my secondary. With my AlphaBridge set this makes my G36 pretty deadly in PvE. I'm excited to continue to try and maximize my build. I'd like to have a set of LMG's and SMG's to run with my AB set as well and with how much loot is dropping right now that shouldn't take too long.

I actually took Crit Chance and Crit Damage completely off my gear and focused on Headshot, Damage to Elites, Enemy Armor Damage, and Health of Kill and didnt know how it compaired. Glad to know I was right and didnt waste my time. Currently sitting at 37% Damage to Elites, 56% Enemy Amor, 165% Headshot Damage, and 19% Health of Kill. Reason my Headshot damage is so high is becuase Sights and silencer have 16 and 17% headshot damage on them. My build is 4 piece Hunters Faith (I always play in groups) and 2 Piece Nomad with Tactical MK 17 Assault rifle with (Brutal, Destructive, and Ferocious) Im melting challenge mode enemies.

Yay another Hunter's Faith group support player. I rolled Prepared on both my Classic M60 and Military Scar-H so I just sit back and unload with tonnes of reduced threat to help keep my team safe. :)

hey Skill up, another talent that would be good for a build you described in the video, is techsupport, which increases the deployed skill duration by %10 everytime you kill an enemy, and with a build made to kill, + plus the low skill power pulse, it would sure help some people

I have completed three of my four builds on my 4 toons: Build 1: 298k/376k(485 in cover)/82k, Final Measure 4p (PvE), Robust Chest, Sturdy Holster, 57% mitagation (70% in cover), 64% EDR LMG/SASG Can do any PvE content besides incursions solo easily, incursions can duo with another good player Build 2: 187k dps, 362k tough, 217k skill power, having a total blast with 3 Fire Crest and 3 Tacticians running Fire Turret and auto rez station, SMG/Sniper Can do any PvE content besides incursions solo easily, incursions can duo with another decent player Build 3 (PvP): 291k/381k/79k, Banshees, Rapid Chest, Savage Gloves, LMG/370 Shotgun, 57.81% mitagation, 24% EDR, 85% shot resist, 69% blind Destroy all mobs in DZ easily, PvPing I am still adjusting to others new builds but I am probably 50/50 1v1 so far.

Best part to me is being able to farm open world and underground and be able to get top tier gear without ever going into DZ. Solid job Massive

I agree, as a player who hated the DZ ( i am still rank 5 there cause i don't go into it) i now like the game again. even the open world after all the missions are done is a lot more active, bosses are back and there is a lot more enemies on the streets. The underground is decent and i am not bummed i bought the season pass for $20 a few days ago.
