In this video I will be talking about my experience with the new Survival gamemode that will be coming to The Division in the 1.5 Patch.

I think they need to remove nametags entirely in survival. It brings the stealth and hiding aspect to the game.

GhillieMaster16 They need to remove it in the Darkzone as well. Make it like the enemies where the tag only appears if you look directly at them. It could save lives.

I think the hunters should be constantly hunting you, but they should not know your exact location and they find it by going towards combat and so stealthy players could avoid them

I basically think the Hunters should be "hunting" you thru the whole experience. Make it so they are searching for you, but need to hone in on your location. So basically if you get yourself into several encounters within a small area it makes it easier for them to find you. Thus making it so you will purposely avoid fights... or try to sneak by them so you don't give away your location. Even making it so lighting fires gives them a way to track you. So it will add to the game IMHO to where you will try to avoid doing it... and try to suffer the cold to find a safe indoor area so you cannot be tracked. This IMHO would add to the "survival" part of the game... and as Marco hinted at. Would add to the difficulty. Giving you this on the edge of your seat feel thru the whole game mode the whole time... as long as they randomized the loot supplies throughout the level.

AdventuremanNB That would have been a good idea had massive implemented a real stealth system in the game. Aside from that, I only think they should start hunting you the moment you enter the dark zone

lol, i like the game, haven't been puting in hours lately, had a 229 alpha bridge and fire crest put together, just needed to get better ones and they go and put in 256 gear, took the wind right out of me, maybe i'll get a breeze back when 1.5 hits live but survival doesn't look like something i would play

In my opinion they should make it so if you are in a group you should start at different places on the maps so it takes time to actually group up, and also spawn people outside in the cold instead of magically teleporting into a warm safehouse after an helicopter crash.

tho it is possible the player dragged himself to the safehouse before you start playing but not realistic if its not 1 near the crashsite. But if everyone were to spawn near each other its gonna be a bloodbath

@@MarcusChan The initial cutscene shows you leaving where you landed at, but seeing as nearly everyone skips the intro, the skippers don't see this.

So reviving other players, do not cost a medkit? That seems kinda wrong for a survival mode... Hope thats just an oversight from the devs, and they change it before launch.

they should just make two queues one for premade teams and the other for solo only. Making solo give more rewards than group mode.

Hey Marco. As I was playing the division with some friends I was switching up my bill depending on what activity we wanted to do ranging from free roaming the land or DZ. And I realize how time-consuming it was so I thought to myself why not have an option where you make a build with what you have and then directly go to that switch to the build according to the Activity you want to do and just like that you're set to go. Since you have such a high voice in the division community I was thinking you would share this with the developers somehow and let them try to implement this in the game. Keep up the great work. Thank you.

Read my mind bro...also in addition I wanna state that what if the loadout also includes costumes e.g If I make a firecrest build with Reddish costume and a Tactician/ Reclaimer in Greenish costume It would be cool r8?

YES, YES, those are my thoughts exactly. work on a build and combine the gear and mods as one, name and save it. You also need to be able to edit/modify the built. Take it one step further and add weapons to said built if they require specific weapons!

In the last state of the game , te al ready mentiond the heard we wanted a gearsetup menu to fast switch , so thats probly already in the works

I love survival - though I agree, freezing should really hurt you - and if revived, you should have to use the med kit like you said. And NPCs should be affected by cold too - also in group play - make mobs bigger or harder, and all act like LMB and charge you from time to time.

I really like the idea of the Hunters hunting you from the start... and that you can't kill them until you're properly geared towards the end. It's like Resident Evil 3's Nemisis character. He pops up in various places in the game, and you can only down him... you're technically supposed to run away, but if you choose to fight, it'll take up a lot of ammo.

I don't play the division very much, in fact I hadn't played it since the week after release but when I heard about survival it sounded pretty cool so I came back. I am happy to say that it was extremely worth it, I extracted in solo pvp survival and I can honestly say I haven't felt this much satisfaction from completing a mission in a video game in a long time. I didn't even open the crates from the end either because I'm only lvl 23. However I do agree with a lot of the points that you made, I do believe it would be absurdly easy with a team and really take away from how scared you get when you get shot out of nowhere or how hard it can make your heart beat when you see another player

Ballistus Ya its just my opinion an not evry body is playing in a squad and in pvp nobody wants to group up becuase nobody wants to talk they just instantly start shooting

i think this is a rather good Idea for this Gamemode. You can still kind of group up with em but just without the Group system, so you gotta watch for Friendly fire or your "Group" altogether, so they don't backstab you.

One way to toughen it up for teams would be to make each consecutive revive on the same player bring them to back to life with decreased max health. After 5 revives, they're only at 50% max health. Will make staying up much more vital to team survival.

I agree with you about the Hunters trying to hunt you down at the start of the game, it makes it more intense and you get the "Hunter becomes the hunted" or the "prey turned predator" feeling when you are powerful enough to take them down.

Dude you just do the best Division videos period. I'm still amazed by your videos. Plus I 99% agree with everything you say. Hard to find. I'm picky about such small things. Keep it up man. I'm always excited when KZbin Red says MarcoStyle has a new video. I love survival. But 1.5 is riddled with bugs and performance issues. Not to mention weapon talents, and much much more.

I just want survival to be a base dynamic of the whole game. the mechanics should've been baked in to the entire god damn game. That's what they sold me on, that's what i want to see. Gimme a reason to look for clothes, eat and drink etc etc. I don't want a time limit to play the Division as I feel it should be played.

I was hoping for the same thing. The DZ would be about acquiring resources for the city to make it objective based. Survival being separate is kind of cool but then doesn't excite me to play the main game. I didn't buy underground because it was a separate thing, so doesn't look like I will buy this either.

Hey, I had an idea of how to make it harder for teams of 4, what if when you went down, to get revived your teammate would have to use their supplies like food or meds or something, or if your froze to death they would have to drag you (like those cases in those supply missions) to a safe house or fire, what do you guys think?

Some really good feedback for the game mode. Forcing players to use med kits for res should definitely be implemented. As for making the game more difficult, maybe introducing something along the lines of directives in Underground where individual players can set afflictions on themselves to get more slots in their DZ loot bag. And for player highlighting it would be nice to see Massive use the tagging system where you'd get a 5 second reveal on players that shoot you but if they disengage and run away they're no longer revealed after that amount of time.

I completely agree with your thoughts about the new Hunter faction. I feel as though it was a missed opportunity. The way they presented the trailer for Survival made it seem as though you would be hunted for the entirety of the game mode almost similar to the way Nemesis hunted you in Resident Evil 3. The fact that you could've been put in the situation where you're suffering from an infection, freezing and starving to death, and being hunted by the said Hunters would've gave the game mode a whole different level of intensity. Imagine where yea you can fight a group of Npc's but in doing so the Hunters would be tipped off to your position and come after you and you have to choose whether to fight or run. I mean even if it was only one hunter forcing you to run deeper into the map and eventually into the dark zone where surprise there's even more hunters would've been awesome. It would also add a level of risk versus reward that is currently lacking in Survival. In regards to the use of the survival mechanics I personally feel they could've embraced more of the "True" Tom Clancy nature of the game and added a stealth/sneak mechanic to help with sneaking by Npc's/Hunter to avoid fighting and even hiding from other players. Idk just a thought 😊. But I personally feel that the guys at Massive, as awesome as they are, get sidetracked and lose cohesiveness in their storytelling and truly believe that the way I described is what they had in mind for Survival but that got lost in translation, for whatever reason, to what we're actually seeing and again it just feels like a missed opportunity.

Brilliant ideas as usual Marco. What about grouped players being scattered at the start of the survival mode, so they need to find each other in order to survive? That way there's no advantage in the early game for a 4-man group over a single player as they're not actually together to begin with. Or what if when grouped it could be set so that one player has medical supplies, one has painkillers, one has food and water, etc. The consumables work like the Reclaimer's gear where when one player uses it, all the players within a small radius get the benefit. That way the players are more dependent on each other there's a very real risk if the player with the medicine dies, the whole team can die of infection? There's so many ways Massive can make it more challenging for groups. They really need to listen to you on this.

Now that SURVIVAL has been around for a few years i decided to revisit this video and wow some of the idea's you had marco were really great and sadly only one got implemented in this game(Having to use a med kit to revive a player). I liked all the idea's you presented here and i will never understand why Massive did not put more heart into this game mode since they KNEW us division players loved survival. I still play this(Solo, i have never played this with other players) Because the NPC's hitt so damn hard and i love that! Even red bar rioters can kick your ass early in the game if you are not careful. I always like to clear landmarks in the DZ and spend about 2 hours per session just having fun with it. I just wish they would have expanded on it because they could have made this a even more incredible experience to play. They may add a survival to Division 2 but to be honest i already know it will not be as good as this one is. First off there will be no severe cold/weather to deal with and the division 2 just not not have the more dark and catastrophic atmosphere of the original game overall.

+Marco another vid that nailed it mate! Excellent suggestions brought to the community and Massive. The mechanics need to be exploited more and not the enemies just getting tougher is a spot on, and so is the solo players need to be on a solo player instance and not bunched with 4x squads. Keep up with the excellent suggestions, and I for one am looking forward to this new expansion.

Re: Hunters - my friend & I ran into a pair of them in the DZ, and we weren't on our way to extract, we weren't near an extraction zone, and we hadn't our antivirals. It was an ambush as we proceeded into the bottom of DZ05. They got us, the first one appeared after a bit of interference and a long build up of a kinda grenade detonation sound building up and going off. It was a shock trap, we almost took him by flanking him, when another hunter came outta the fog, took us by surprise and we were done. So I'm not sure if it was by accident, but Hunters appear in non-extraction situations, perhaps?

If they could have an indication next to a gear item that tells you whether or not it's been recalibrated and which stat was recalibrated, that would be really nice to have. It would help compare items to one another.

Did you notice the finishing moves of the hunters? One time, when I was downed, a hunter finished me with a tomahawk move. Looks awesome, feels horrible :) love survival. Super vid as always m8.

When you mention increasing the difficulty... maybe something like what they have in the Underground with the directives - maybe weather has more of an effect, virus is more lethal, etc etc

Yep, agree with all your points here 100%. Especially the longevity of the mode - even if they implement all the changes you've suggested, I don;t see the point in Survival beyond the first few playthroughs as you don't actually achieve anything for your main character that you can't get doing anything else...

I think it would be cool to fight your way to a set location on the map to pick up your in game loadout before you go into the darkzone and the darkzone should be scaled to you.

Marco question do you know when they will put the blind rifle in the game or the m700 it was nvr saw it on console not sure about PC ? so any ideas

marco, what if instead of survival being a one off experience, it was a world tier modifier, and we weren't burdened by an infection timer or extraction ending the experience. modify survivor so it's integrated as a world tier modifier allowing prolonged open world experiences, builds, etc. explore the lz and dz. craft flare guns just to extract loot you farm in the dz. hunt down warm gear, battle thirst, hunger, the flu if you get too cold for too long... it could be our own little dayz. thoughts?

Make picking up a downed player cost a medkit if you want to make going down so much just to be revived not as much of a problem. It's a reasonable choice. Another suggestion would be to make it so that you get revived with 1 bar instead of 2 or more. With a quicker death time, you and the other player won't be able to spam revive and go as far... A cool idea i thought of is have the Hunters spawn in different sections based on team size. If you're a group of 4, then you'll find a Hunter in the whole area. If you're a group of 3, then have them spawn only in the city area. If it's a group of 2, they spawn only in the Dark Zone. To make sure it's not too tough, they could scale their level down to 28 or 29 so it's not too hard. Remember the trailer for Survival? A Single Hunter killed off a group of 4 division people in the outskirts. It'd be interesting to have them spawn there.

I agree with you about running in groups it will easier to get loot. And yes when you are running with your friends every one will work together and it will be easier. But the issue with loot sharing is your going to matchmake into those groups who are not team players and will be letting you fight the enemy and then run ahead to get the loot first. When most of the players are cool and work together i have been with some that just care about themselves and thats the issue i will have with loot sharing.

That idea where the hunters start to hunt you down from the begging of the survival game play, is a brilliant idea. That should definitely be implimented. Or even moments in the game where ISAAC warns that you a wave of hunters are coming in. Over all good job dude.

I think your idea for having the hunters around from the very being could be very good as a push to prevent player from staying still for to long and to give them incentive to scavenge.

Marco my first run i had more than 50 minutes left. Yes i watched streams. I got tools and electronics en weapon Parts not in the Dark zone. In the dark zone i could even craft a yellow mask, vest and gloves with a m44 and acr and a x-45 no healing skills crafted only balisstic shield and smart cover

I'm an average player, playing after work and it seems after watching you're videos and I myself playing the division from the beginning beta, that your advice help push survival into what I believe is a little too challenging game for the everyday player.

hey Marco with all these bulk caches that we will be getting I think you should mention a quality of life feature that allows us to open them in bulk. a minor change that would go a long way of not wasting time.

Agree using a medkit is ideal that's what i was going to suggest I also believe they need to add Hard/heroic modes and cant see why they wouldn't this could be for 2-4 player teams for instance and also give 100-300% more rewards making the difficulty rewarding.

I hear what you're saying and you make a lot of sense, as usual. My only problem is that I watched portions of gameplay when you and Arrekz teamed up and it didn't seem like things were too easy for you guys; there were plenty of scary moments. Maybe I didn't see enough?

Juls Token In the livestream, Arreks and Marco were struggling and could of died, but some random players came to rescue them and paired up and completed the extraction and I have to admit the squad was struggling so bad because the hunters had those skill sticky bomb powers.

Plain and simple, groups get paired vs groups, solo paired with solo players. Solo difficultly separated from group difficulty.

I know its a really old video but even in your gameplay i can see it requires medkits to revive so im lost as to how you've said constant revives are available? Unless you have 100 med kits?

I did survival solo all the time and i think it's okay you just have to play it smart and pick your battles

All the machanics are in the game already so wouldn't take much to implement. Like if you die, have a timer before you can be rezzed (ala destiny) to make your team work harder. If you are freezing you walk slower, slowing your team down (they would have to make fires less plentiful or flares are needed to start every barrel and there aren't many around). Hungry or thirsty and your health goes up less and there isn't as many bars (lessen the food so you must share to keep a team going). The infection at certain stages makes you limp then maybe health drains very slowly (I do mean very or it would spoil it) etc etc These are just a couple of ideas thought up over watching this video. Basically if you want to team up you get the same resources but must share and balance the resources to make sharing etc mandatory. Shit Massive I got the gold edition and really want to come back to the game but your not encouraging me at all. This is a great game when it wants to be and I know you want it to be a ten year franchise like a certain other game so you must make things as good in single as they are in teams so people will want to play. Patch 1.4 was a great start but for a paid DLC like survival I will probably play it once and its not enough. Need to stop typing or I'll be here when division 2.0 comes along. Great vid marco.

Hard mode idea. if you start in a party - you all start at different locations and have to find eachother to group?

To make survival better: Increase damage from cold by 50%. Increase debuffs from hunger/thrist. Reduce amount of consumables you can find. Reduce the number of fire barrels by 75%. Require medkits to be revived by teammates. Reduce number of materials you can find by 50%. Reduce the amount of loot you receive 50%. Reduce amount of ammo you have by at least 50%. Have hunters attack you once you've entered the DZ. Don't let pre-made groups join survival. The game mode should only have 1 difficulty.

Charlie Solow agreed. Also. Everything from crafting items and consumables to enemy mobs and the final location and items needed to extract should all be in random location so no one can memorize routes.

I am level 10 on my other account and the past couple of days have done a couple of main missions and a couple of encounter and side missions. I went into the base of operations earlier and security wing I had 2400, technology wing I had 3750 and medical wing 2000, but I don't know where all the points come from. Since I upgraded the wings a last which was a few days ago I only had 30 points for each wing and since then I only done one mission for security and one for technology as well as a couple encounters , side missions and main missions like I mentioned above. Does anyone know where all these points came from, as nice as it is having all the points all of a sudden, I would have preferred to unlock the points myself.

Thanks dude, lots of good content! Why don't you do a vid for new / coming back players to get us up to speed? I was always intrigued with the division but never ended up getting it. Now it starting to look more interesting, to me and quite a few people out there it seems, and having a vid that sums up the division for newcomers would be absolutely golden (think of all that youtube moneys!).

I think that they should put something like reduced speed or something on the Sepsis Stages. Perhaps something like reduced speed depending on how many pieces of Gear you Carry Around yourself, crafting resources not included. Thoughts?

What about possibility of different injuries from helicopter crash. Broken arm or leg would certainly make each run-through different. What about different mission objectives? i.e. antivirals, new diagnostic technology, perhaps even pursuing a suspect for crime. What about having everyone fight over the same antivirals. What about not showing player names at all? What about when wind is howling can only communicate it shelter. I believe that cold effects should take much longer to recover. Permanent frostbite damage? Like few people/Marco mention need proper debuffs. Too cold - accuracy and speed reduced, Thirsty - Vison and Endurance reduced etc As virus progresses could get, cramps/dizziness. Fever & Chills. Also definitely need friendly-fire So much that can be done here and a lot of it not that much work. I welcome any feedback

total agree, but we need new missions and new incursion in order to use the new 256 gear set. iam a little boring doing the same old missions day after day.

After watching this video I agree with most of what you said, I feel we are forgetting the most important aspect of any game "content ". All though Survival seems fun it is going to get boring really fast imo. I think what they can is after you complete your first extraction when you go back in you receive all you task from the different hideouts such as gather a x number of materials because the base of operations is running out. Also any gear found in Survival can continue to be used throughout Survival only. And finally Hunters are looking for you all over the map not just a guest appearance at the extraction. What do you guys think?

Just add revive sickness so that when you are downed and revived have a 5 minute timer of sickness where another down is instant death causing your teammates to res you with a kit and it takes longer.

COOL IDEAS to punish group game reviving partners, and that hunter follow guys from the first time if you have bad luck will be cool to feel adrenaline from beginning.

I think a lot of your grips about this game mode is when you play in a group. Which kind of defeats the purpose of survival. Of course playing with other players will make it easier, surviving with other people in real life is much easier. If youre looking for a challenge/fun play solo, if youre looking to fuck around and have an easy time then you queue with friends. Which is the way I think it should be

I would LOVE for hunters to be there at the start, maybe 1 of them close to you and they increase in numbers as you progress, they should also be very very strong, and so you need to be more stealthy.. much more slender like, even MGS like

I think they should have a matchmaking option so you are always in a group of 4 so it's some what fair for everybody if you already don't have a group of 4

How about a limping mechanic that applies to the player after being revived to make them use cover to get around normally for a short period of time.

I think if they make Medkits mandatory for group revive people will just all try to craft support station and you're back to square one, seeing as other skills are not so useful, it will just be Pulse+FA and Pulse+Support Station.

I have not played the game yet because I have a PS4 but if you are running into problems like this on the new survival mode then your suggestions are really good they should take those and consideration. because I want to feel like survival is the only option. not that survival could be an option.

I play survival and attempt to get full yellow gear and 6 survival caches, I also spend at least 10 minutes exploring random places I never went before! :3

I think they should add really good enemies mechanics, like snipers (in good and random locations) or enemies that can track you down, so you always feel in danger.

I wish you could go into a survival game with a group of friends but with an option to play as a group or for everyone in that group to play solo, just in the same game
