Most often the best advice and comfort to someone like Bob is just being an attentive set of ears and the kind and sympathetic heart you have Steve. But the fish are interesting. I lived for several years up in the deep north of Thailand and was lucky to have my own small lake like the one in this video. So i stocked the lake and would catch and eat the fish. Then time passed and i decided not to eat my fish, and to catch and release. Some more time passed and i stopped catching the fish and just fed them as a peaceful meditation. At first the fish were quite shy, but over time they got used to me and would float around the surface. When my neighbour who still occasionally fished my lake would come and sit with me all the fish would disappear. Some of my best friends were fish those days

This is a story of individual responsibility. Divorce, pain, anger, bitterness, loathing blame are emotional reactions. Emotional reactions are directly related to what is known in Psychiatry as a 'dislocation of expectation'. Any man marrying that believe's it's for life, is dislocated from facts and reality, certainly for the many. Anyone, male or female who believes one or the other will be 100% faithful is dislocated, anyone that believes there is never a financial cost to marriage is dislocated, anyone believing there is not an emotional cost to marriage is dislocated. Add children into the marriage and then add divorce, it is of course heart breaking for all parties involved, but not to expect it, is a dislocation from the reality of likelihood. USA divorce rate is 3.2 per 1000 of population (45% of population), in the UK it is 1.6 per 1000 of population (42% of population) and in Thailand is 1.4 per 1k (39% of population). All statistics are questionable, but show a very simple obvious question, 'why are people dislocated from the fact it is highly likely they will divorce? Life is simple if you follow the 7x P's, from the age of 18 years old - Prior Planning & Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance. Behind the rhetoric, it is a simple message, prepare the physical as well as the mental, for the reality ahead, as it 'stops' a dislocation of expectation and saves you millions of minutes, thousands of hours and hundreds of days worrying about a highly likely occurrence and due to the high possibility, you have planning in-place, with resources and mental strength to deal with the divorce and move-on. If you can't plan ahead, simple, don't get married, because as individuals, we are responsible for outcomes, regardless of liking this fact or not. Only once you accept individual responsibility can you plan ahead or if not planned, at least by accepting it now (Better late than never), you can move on in life. Life is for living, go explore and enjoy, as not to do so, is a dislocation of expectation all of itself.

Steve, Bob was looking for inspirational strength from you in which you provided. People find strength in all sort of things. Sometimes we need to slow down in order to proceed in life. It sounds like Bob needs to get lost for awhile. For me Taoism brought peace and clarity to my life. I stopped worrying about everything and only thought about things that mattered to me alone. I connected to the world by connecting with nature. How taoist view nature and how they learn from nature created a path for me to move forward. Bob needs not to destruct or destroy his life for a woman who would gladly do that for him. Bob needs to find himself again, find his strengths and recognize his weakness. Create a SWOT chart, create opportunities and not make decisions while under stress and above all, surround himself with good people not toxic drunks and bar girls.
