Hi Christian and Vera just been watching the video on the pull-out drawer you got in your Discovery 3 , Vera was saying the back may be bigger if you have the 7 seat version. myself I have the seven seat version if I was to take the 6&7 seats out it would be identical to your vehicle. Something I did not realise there was so much room under the back seat on the Discovery it shows you how much I do not look round my vehicle and I've had it for 2 years now, Christian you keep opening my eyes to the little bits and pieces I do not know about my Discovery please keep up the good work and I cannot wait till your next video stay safe both of you. Hi Vera and Christian! Nice video, once again. As others have already stated, some D3 rear seats fold differently. There were two types of rear seats. Yours is the 65/35 split (where you have to lift the base before folding the backrests). Mine is the 35/30/35 split, so 3 individual seats. All 7 seaters have this configuration, but mine is a 5 seater and has it. Base doesn't lift, but the backrest first flip down, then with another latch, the entire chairs collapse into the floor completely flat. I went with pretty different approach for the rear setup. I have a presentation video made, but it's in Romanian; must redo it in English and post it on YT one day. Anyway, I went for a 35.5 l IndelB drawer fridge, so I don't need a slide for it. It is awesome. I also did a simple dual battery system with a Victron Energy Cyrix CT (VSR). I believe I have a good (there is room for improvement) and very budget friendly setup. I would be curious to hear your thoughts on it sometime. Take care! Cheers!

@AlexStrugariu3 жыл бұрын
@@Vera_and_Christian Thank you. Glad you found it useful. Very good question indeed regarding the spare tyre. My solution is very simple: First, I have a tire repair kit with me always, so I can repair punctures without taking the wheel off. Second, if I do destroy a tire beyond repair, my rear setup is very light and very easy to take out. Anyway, in almost 4 years and 100k km I have never needed the spare tire (although I do have 5 matching tires). Regarding water storage, you could see that we just have a 20l water can from Frontrunner. It has a tap, and I can connect a hose to it when needed. We don't traverse the Australian outback to need 100l of water. I'm sure you guys will make a great DIY solution for water storage :) Cheers!

I'm so tempted to be the 1 thumbs down. :) I love this draw design and think I may do the same. We have the 7 seat, but I'm looking to remove the 2 rear ones for a water bladder under the draw. Our 2 row seats are in the same place, so the dimensions of the draw will work for any model. Your 2nd row seat folding is very different to ours. We fold ours, then can pull another tab to drop them flat. We can also tip them for person access to the rear. I lime the shelf that doubles as a bench. I think ill do the same, but with alloy frame on both. Once again thanks for a great video.

Torn, I have had some use for those seats from time to time, but then camping and road-tripping, the draws would be awesome. And at 12:00 the 7-seaters don't have that. You folder the back of the seat down, then another latch on the floor swings the base up against the back of the front seat, so you can get in to the 3rd row seats. Great vid!

Hi guys, great video. Can you explain a bit about your charging method for the 2nd battery? Why do you use acdc inverted power? Is that because of the smart alternator? Greetings from Namibia.

Hello Brendan in Namibia, the Goal Zero Yeti 400 comes with a power supply for charging in 230VAC out of the box. The 12V adapter is extra, expensive and does not provide as much charging power. It was cheaper and better to use a ebay inverter for 40$ and charge over 230VAC. Christian

You both are amazing! Thanks for all your video content shared. You have a really exquisite taste in your constructions and explanations, realistics, functionals, well made and with common sense. Of course the mechanical skills you have are not something common to find. By the way, I take this opportunity to ask you a question. What are they called or where I can get those spring latches that you use to fix the drawer? I've been looking for something similar for my camper frame and I can't find them. Watching your video of the aluminum roof trunk it has become clear to me that the way to fasten a structure made of aluminum is not with self-drilling screws as I did (after 2 days and is already with looseness by the weight of the table for the bed that supports) but using a riveting machine. You have a new follower and fan from the other side of the german west border. Good luck with the channel! PS: the videos of the alps, excellent too.

Very nicely made slider. I've always been a bit skeptical about the benefits of a vertical split tailgate. People always say "They're great 'cos you can sit on it" but, really? Is that the ONLY benefit? It's not even like the top part provides much shelter from rain cos it only extends out as far as the bottom part. I've always found that the most glaring issue with the tailgate on a Range Rover, or a D3, is that the tailgate gets in the way when you're trying to reach inside. Maybe not a huge problem if you're tall/strong but if the back of the car is muddy you're almost certainly going to end up with mud on you after trying to reach into the load-space. Your slider solves that almost completely.
@Vera_and_Christian3 жыл бұрын
You are right, it is very annoying. That is the main reason why we build the slider, I always have to crawl inside to get stuff out. But we believe it's because a tailgate that opens up ⬆ is too heavy and you have problems then with low ceiling heights like in our garage . On my Freelander, the door opens to the side and that is not always good either. Here in Germany, parking in any city is tight and sometimes I can't open my tailgate door fully. Also when I have the bike rag mounted, or my trailer hitched, I can't get that door to fully open. 🙋♀️ Vera
@SiCrewe3 жыл бұрын
@@Vera_and_Christian There's no perfect answer, I guess. Biggest problem I have with the side-opening tailgate on my Disco' is that most businesses, these days, seem to have a reverse-parking policy so you reverse part way into a parking space and then you have to stop so you can actually open the tailgate to get stuff out then reverse the rest of the way into the space. First World problems, I guess. :-P

We have had viewers mentioning before that they are appearantly hard to come by in the UK. Or that the postage is extrodinary. But here in Germany, the postage was also a lot, like 25€. I have also not found the black anodized ones again. 🙋♀️ Vera

We made this video last year, but not really with the intention to make a video about it kzbin.info/www/bejne/g6qlZKqsdshspdU ( That is when we got started making KZbin videos ). What mattered to us was that the RTT sits flat on the roof, with as little of a gap as possible. 🙋♀️ Vera

Do you have a link for the plastic storage boxes?
@Vera_and_Christian3 жыл бұрын
Well here is an Amazon link so you can see what they look like. They are called Eurobox and have standardized sizes. Most van builds and overland builds, here in Germany, are customized around the different sizes of the Euroboxes, ours also. www.amazon.de/Eurobox-geschlossen-60x40x42-86-Liter/dp/B00NSOBPGI/ref=sr_1_13?__mk_de_DE=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&crid=P9P41X7TBWNG&dchild=1&keywords=eurobox&qid=1618901536&rnid=419121031&sprefix=Eurobo%2Cautomotive%2C182&sr=8-13. However we would never purchase them from Amazon, here in Germany, and probably in most other European countries, you buy the in a hardware store. 🙋♀️ Vera

I noticed you have yours mounted on the back pillar. Could you do a video please showing how you did this? In some ways I wish I had the space you have in yours. You have done an amazing job.
