This is how it works, if police comes into an appartment for a reason, they would look into everyone they meet at the location at that point in time, it does not matter if you are visiting or not. Police have gone into the apartment for a reason and they have looked into everything there is including immigration history. This lady in question was claiming assylum, they are more likely to hide under the guise of theft etc to stop her papers going through because they don't want her papers to go through in the first place. She might be a victim of circumstance and location.
