Let me say this Incase it could make sense. The Pastor didn't collect those documents at the instant of the woman; No. He collected it upon the husband's consent and approval. The woman submitted herself to the approval of her husband and as such brought herself to the authority of the man as far as the pastor is concerned. It is based on this that the pastor acted in accordance to the directive of the man. The woman would have as a necessity if she had deemed it unnecessary not to be under the man, she would have walked away. The Pastor by implication said "woman I can only collect these document if you submit to the authority of your husband in this regard and she submitted so why blow hot and cold at the same time. There are 2 mistakes from the part of the pastor, which from his explanation seems to me to be coming from the sentiment and a passive protection for the woman's husband (pastor mentioned that the woman never worked but the husband is a medical doctor). The first mistake is going ahead to keeping custody of the documents despite the red flag, when the woman said he shouldn't let the husband have access to any of the documents. The second mistake is eventually letting the husband access the 3 of the documents without the wife's knowledge, which I belief stem from that sentiment for the husband in the first place
