The only doctor I'm really familiar with due to the Christmas specials. Doctor Who is one of those series where my preference to watch things in chronological order and the series having been around for a very long time means I just get overwhelmed at the idea of getting into it. My sister on the other hand loves Doctor Who so much which is odd as she is the athlete of the family and I am the nerd that researches random trivia on topics I like just for fun. She also tends to not bother with subtitles so I have no idea if she understands what is going on since she can't always read a character's lips or if she just gets a kick out of all the frantic hand waving and such. I do know she likes the alien designs as she got ornaments of them for her Christmas tree. I really should give this a shot, but finding the time is so difficult these days. Not like when I was a kid and summer could be spent watching tv so long as I took breaks to read and visit family.
