I have no issue with The Doctor being gay, or with having gay or trans actors or characters in Doctor Who. It makes sense for The Doctor to be gay or even bisexual, since they’ve been both male and female. However, I find it annoying when episodes focus more on pushing a "woke" message than on telling a good story. For example, in Dot and Bubble, casting only white actors to address social issues didn’t add to the story and caused drama. The Star Beast went too far with alien pronouns, which felt unnecessary, and had a line about men not understanding emotions because they’re men. It also made non-LGBTQ+ characters seem less important, which was unfair and unnecessary. On top of that, Donna surviving the metacrisis didn’t make sense with what we already know about the show’s lore. It felt like they cared more about adding a non-binary character than making sure the story worked. Representation is fine, but the show should focus on good stories and characters, not forcing modern political ideas into every episode. The writing for Doctor Who has gotten worse in recent years, and it’s clear from how fewer people are watching. The show doesn’t need to focus on these issues to stay popular, it needs great stories and adventures like it used to have.

Jodi Whittaker’s Doctor failed because of REALLY bad writing, direction, and editing. I like Ncuti Gatwa’s previous work, but I have not liked his acting here. He cries practically every episode for no reason, and he seems to be riding on charm rather than authenticity. I have no problem with a gay doctor, but the writing has made it gimmicky & cheap.
