Love how Donna was always so supportive of the doctors memory of rose where as Martha was always so bitter and jealous
@lesley12043 жыл бұрын
Martha was such a good character, that had so much potential. She was smart, determined, resourceful, independent, not afraid to speak her mind and stand up for herself, but all of that was pretty much swept under the rug because the writers somehow decided to make her one-sided crush for the Doctor her entire personality. Now all that she’s remembered for is how she always had a chip on her shoulder over the fact that she was living in the shadow of someone she knew she’ll never be - despite the fact that she literally helped save the world and the Doctor’s life a few times. Martha and her actress deserved better.
@Blazieth11 ай бұрын
@@lesley1204 Of course, Martha also had the horrid luck to fall in love with a man who had _just lost the love of his life_ and hadn't had time to get over her. The Doctor was comically oblivious to how she started feeling about him, and a lot of that IS because he was still mourning Rose. How he treated her wasn't really fair... but neither was getting upset with him over it and acting jealous when he's still obviously in mourning and honestly had no idea how she really felt. The Doctor always tends to have a special talent for missing the blatantly obvious. I do think the Doctor was dwelling on her _too_ much though, and Martha eventually making her stance clear when she left helped him realize it, giving him the push he needed to start making a real effort to get over her; which Donna ended up helping with, due to being supportive about it, instead of getting snippy every time the topic of Rose came up.
@dontask90002 жыл бұрын

It's more Tennants acting so well being in love with her and lost her. The best "Rose moments" happened after her being gone. As this video shows. So like it wasnt a great romance for the sake of romance, but the "better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all" mixed with "I'd do anything to get her back, I can save or destroy planets if I wanted, but am powerless to do anything to get her back" performance Tennant gives, it's beautiful. My take on why Rose is so important to the Doctor is because: She healed his wounds from the Time War, with friendship and love. She was the first human that breathed vigor and life into the TARDIS again. Without her, Doctor would still be hurt and traumatized by the War. That's why she's important. It's not because she is someTwilight-ish love story or anything for the Doctor. She's so much more than that.

Donna shipping the Doctor and Rose is a beautiful thing! I do think, once the two girls met and got used to each other because as jealous as Martha was of Rose, Rose too would have felt insecure upon meeting Martha, I do think they would have become friends and it would have been like when Sarah Jane and Rose met and after a couple of hours they started talking and then laughing over things the Doctor did.

@@jamesjackson4741 The episode when River Song regenerated from Mel...oh yeah Let's Kill Hitler! He's dying from poison and he tells his TARDIS to show him something that brings regret from himself. The TARDIS then shows a hologram of Rose. In a later episode (don't remember which) Matt Smith says: "I can help Rose Tyler with her homework-" before blurting on about something completely different.

When Donna asks what Rose's name was is still one of the most heart breaking line deliveries from David Tennant.

I’ve really come to appreciate Rose in these past few years, I always thought she was annoying with the 9th so it bled over into her run with the 10th. ...but the way Davíd Tennant’s eyes look the second she is brought up breaks me into little pieces. So much heartache and pain. Also, this video reminds me how much I dislike Martha as a companion. She was so desperately annoying and jealous. Donna was literally the perfect companion so I’m glad she came into the show quickly.

The Doctor is really terrible at explaining any previous emotional experiences he had, if the audience picked up the show after season 2 without knowing what happened to Rose, it'd be another mystery like the Doctor's childhood, life on Galliery etc.
@SWTobito07025 жыл бұрын
You know until the season 3 finale where the Doctor pretty clearly explains to Jack what happened.
@ijornhribrudkrvir4 жыл бұрын
But that makes sense, when people lose a loved one they're not gonna go around telling everyone everything about them, it takes time. A lot of time. We, the audience know what happened but to anyone after I think giving too detailed sn explanation would have been too much for him for a long time

I think that Rose was probably the best damn companion ever. I stopped watching the show after Clara was introduced mostly bc there wasn't that spark that Rose and the Tenth doctor gave to the show. That's just my opinion though...
@spilltheteaspillthetea4 жыл бұрын
I think they tried to do another Rose with Clara but it failed. The RTD era had the best companions.
@c.eb.12163 жыл бұрын
Yeah but the 12th doctor and Clara had a pretty interesting relationship. Not exactly romantic, but something like soulmates. It's hard to define. It's kind of like what Missy described, but with way less history. I'm starting to think that the Doctor's relationships are always going to be way beyond romance simply because he's a timelord.
