Dodge has been making 2 and 4 door cars since the 60’s off of the same platform. I have multiple 69 and 72 Dodge Polara and Monaco cars that are the same size. It is nothing different. In fact Dodge, Plymouth, and Chrysler as well as GM and ford built 2 doos, 4 doors, and station wagons of of the same platform.

My '69 GTO that was first sold December 68 was originally $3170 and the buyer added 32 options including rare cornering lamps for $1000 so it was $4170 plus tax/lic. In 2025 dollars that is $37,805 so tell me could you get a fully loaded any muscle car today for that? I haven't bought a new car since 2002 and have no plans to ever again.

And that's the point they are missing. I almost got a 5.0 mustang for under 30k but it had a dirty carfax. The days of an affordable V8 newer play toy are over.

The new Charger is a good looking car to most people I've spoke with....of course everyone has own personal tastes. The fact that it's available in 2dr and 4dr is great. IMO musclecars must be 2 doors since that's what I grew up with. I understand Dodge sold millions of the modern 4 door Charger....but Delorean and Bob Lutz would NOT have named them Charger. By all accounts it sounds like Dodge tried to maximize interior space in the new car, which is very smart since Americans like space in their trucks/SUVs. Making the car narrower and add fender flares for a wide body look just to satisfy a small % of buyers would have been a mistake. Of course the car will sell once the ICE engines are installed. How many are sold will depend on price, price, price.

American muscle car is an affordable rear wheel drive car that is easily modified by the owner. Good comparison on Tesla, yes their Plaid is 1,000hp 9 second ride, but it is closer to a golf cart than a muscle car...
