This is just lovely! I'm not sure I've ever heard Richard Barbieri speak before! Steve playing guitar left-handed is a treat and he has a lovely voice - and he does that thing with his eyebrow exactly as his brother does. 'Catch the Fall' is a great album that I wish I'd heard much sooner. I wasn't even aware of it until this year, but I love it. It's RB and SJ - what's not to love?!

Richard did an interview with someone on KZbin about a year ago. Can't remember the name of the person doing the interview, but it shouldn't be difficult to find on KZbin.

Oh bless them, they looked so soooooo embarrassed during the interview.
@m.pilarojedaferenus20614 жыл бұрын
I don't know if embarrassed so much as they look kinda shy. They had just started, & now they were a duo. Steve has said that he prefers being behind the scenes, & so I think it was not easy for him or Rich to have to do so much talking, when normally it would be all the guys together or David. I think this experience was a bit nerve-wracking for them, but as soon as they started performing, all those years in Japan kicked in, & they looked as comfortable as in their Japan days.

This was such a good album but it was constantly compared to Steve's brothers work and never given the credit it deserved. I never understood why Steve rarely sings on his work, I think his voice is good. All the JBK work was worth listening to also.

Steve should tour singing David's songs, since David won't anymore. He sounds just like him.
@m.pilarojedaferenus20614 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, he would never do that. I read in an interview that he didn't keep singing because he didn't think his voice was that great (I completely disagree), & I remember that he said that as kid he left the guitar for the drums because it was too hard playing guitar as a left-hander (probably since things are geared towards right-handers). And you can tell he (& Richard) were not comfortable during the interview part of the show (Richard looking down, while poor Steve starts playing with his hands or practices guitar (I'm guessing it had been a while since he played, or maybe he was just really nervous since he's center-stage, though since it's a duo, Rich is much more prominent. Once they started though, BAM! Those years of playing in Japan kicked in & got them through. Btw, Steve says he likes being more behind-the-scenes than center-stage. For as much as David hated being onstage & didn't enjoy the Japan years, he sure had a talent for being the front man. It's cool how some people can just pull it off when they're shy types. They go onstage and become a completely different person. And I'm sure you're aware of how many times Steve has worked with David (mainly on David's projects), & how many times he's toured w/David.

I can’t help wondering if it’s emulation or genetics. Steve doesn’t come across as someone who would mimic his brother but rather as someone who would want to forge his own creative path.
