I never considered before that the Dominion wouldn't outright occupy "captured" systems. They may hold huge forces in sectors running closer to the Fed core systems, but they really have no reason to bother landing troops once Starfleet mobile units are driven away. It's not like the planets will go anywhere. Aside from securing key spaceborne infrastructure, they would only be a distraction to the drive for the founding members. Brilliant analysis! You did note though that the various Cardassian Orders were a more occupation-minded. That serves the Vorta also. They could say to resistant Federation worlds "Our Jem'Hadar are ruthless, but highly disciplined and obedient to the Vorta and we promise you will be treated well. It would be a shame if those Cardassians got to you first....see how they act?"
@venomgeekmedia98863 жыл бұрын
definitely. and that is something you can see in DS9 weyoun pulling the good-cop/bad-cop routine regularly. basically being like, "im a really nice guy, but these cardassians are crazy, so you've gotta help me out cause i can only reign them in so much..."

I wonder how much Starfleet's tactical withdrawal during this period impacted on intra-Federation politics in the post war shakedown. It seems to me that Starfleet had little option other than to follow the course it chose. However, if you're living on a world left stranded behind enemy lines you could be forgiven for wondering if the Federation cared all that much about you and your world. Vedik Winn hit the nail on the head when she asked Sisko whether Starfleet would be willing to protect Bajor with the same vigor it would Vulcan, or Earth. She knew the answer and Sisko couldn't bring himself to lie. The Dominion invasion, and Starfleet's response, highlighted a pecking order among Federation worlds that everybody knew but nobody acknowledged.
@venomgeekmedia98863 жыл бұрын
yeah i mean you could see that divide with the maquis conflict earlier in the decade where some federation worlds were just left to fend for themselves. and perhaps contributed to the dystopia that emerges at the end of the century.

_"Gaiety is the most outstanding feature of the __-Soviet Union-__ Dominion."_ Yeah, infiltration & subversion have been the Dominions greatest strengths. It makes the most logical sense that they would put in just as much effort in the propaganda front as they did in the military front early-war.

indeed and you really get that sense of P.R from Weyoun in DS9. theres all sorts of nasty things the dominion could do but don't

There is one issue I have with that map. Bolarus and Benzar are actually close to the Romulan Neutral Zone.
@venomgeekmedia98863 жыл бұрын
yeah so the placement of bolaris i get is wrong. however given that the dominion invade benzar later on i had to place it in a realistic position for that to happen.
@michaeldiekmann64943 жыл бұрын
@@venomgeekmedia9886 Not a big issue, your version makes more sense than those offical ST Star Maps. Specially around the issue of a Romulan/Dominion Frontline.

Hmm, the 2nd episode of this series has been released to non-members. It was an overall enjoyable episode. If I had a large enough amount of spare cash at this current time. I would become a member myself. Hopefully one day. Also minor nit-pick, but Caitian is pronounced Kay-shen not Ca-tA-shen.

The federation falling back was the smart choice. Standing their ground and killing and dying would be cooperating with the dominion. The federation fought in the best way and won the war with the disease rather than butchering their way through gem hadar.
@IronWarhorsesFun3 жыл бұрын
So basically Starfleet thought they were dealing with Gudarian's GRAND ENCERCLEMENT. Shame they didn't do the whole scorched earth doctrine while pulling back. STARFLEET HEREBY COMMITS THE ULTIMATE SANCTION OF EXTREMINATUS TO DENY THE DOMINION VITAL INFRASTRUCTURE.... Edit: AND THAT WAS THE MONTH, WITH RED ARMY FORCES LOSING MASSIVE SWATHES OF TERRIT.... wait... aren't we the WW2 channel??
@GoddessTier3 жыл бұрын
It's likely Starfleet would WANT to destroy assets before the Dominion captured them, but it's a Federation. Those assets are largely the property of the local member worlds. Imagine the propaganda value to the Vorta if they could say "the humans will sacrifice all you have built and hold precious before they will give up control of this...'fEdErAtIoN". In fact, I would be surprised if they didn't make that argument anyway but with far less glaring proof.
