I have digital versions of all 40 episodes, and I feel like the show does get better as it goes along. A lot of people also tend to agree that the animation and lip syncing greatly improve in the second season, but I agree with you. I don't like how everyone looks like plastic!

I loved this show as a kid because DKC was my favourite game as a kid and seeing the accuracy of the characters was so satisfying.

I mean, it makes sense that Cranky used to look similar to Donkey Kong. He is the original Donkey Kong after all. Kind of wish they acknowledged that in the Mario Movie but maybe having two characters named Donkey Kong and one of them changing their name would be too confusing.

1. I've never seen a DVD menu with a freaking time limit before! That's so unnecessarily stressful. 2. Why did they just make DK Samson from the bible? That's what the whole cut his hair to get rid of his strength thing is referencing. I don't really see a connection so it's just kinda random. 3. As far as other video game cartoons go, that old Rayman show gives off similar vibes to DK and I think it would be cool to see you check it out. Unrefined CG, doesn't have jack shit to do with the games, changes how certain characters act, puts in its own new characters, etc. Although I have no idea where you can find it these days.

and to think, that when i was young i thought candy kong was dk's AUNT and not his significant other....it was watching this cartoon that i was finally proven wrong.....though looking back at this childhood headcanon i'm starting to wish it WAS canon as i feel it would have fixed some criticism i have towards this cartoon regarding characterization.....or would it

this cartoon is no doubt flawed however in retrospect, i'm kind of glad it exists since i got into donkey kong in my childhood i always wanted a donkey kong movie or TV show of some sort so this show is basically an answer to prayer...now with the success of the recent super mario bros movie chances are we MAY get a donkey kong country movie....but if it's anything like the mario movie then i probably shouldn't expect much from it

I know this show came out in 1997, but Toy Story had an amazing CGI and it came 2 years before Donkey Kong Country

In this case that's a feature-film budget vs. a TV animation budget. For its time, DKC looks pretty impressive.
