Micheal McDonald is probably one of the greatest talents of the 20th century in my opinion plus he was hot 🥵 the whole band is exceptional! I didn’t like them when I was a teenager but now that I’m older and wiser,I really dig their music!

Trust me... Mike sleeps fine, every single night. Specifically, as he still tours with the band... your opinions trouble him deeply, I'm sure. LOL!!!

I HAVE BEEN READING THE COMMENTS MADE CONCERNING MICHAEL McDONALD’S TENURE WITH THE DOOBIES. THE1st ALBUM WAS RELEASED I THINK IN 1970. I PURCHASED IT AS A NEW RELEASE AFTER JUDGING THE GROUP ON THE COVER AS A GROUP OF METAL BIKERS. NOT SO! THESE GUYS WERE AMAZING SINGERS AND WRITERS AND MUSICIANS. THINGS USUALLY GOT BETTER. FIRST REMEMBER THERE WERE A LOT OF GUYS WHO PLAYED WITH THE BAND. THE DOOBIES ARE ONE OF THE VERY VERY FEW GROUPS WHO GO A GREAT DISTANCE IN A DIRECTION. THAT IN ITSELF WAS TIRING FOR THE GROUP AND TO A DEGREE FANS. MANY HAD ISSUES TOM JOHNSTON HAD AN ULTRA SEVERE DIGESTIVE PROBLEM. THEY HAVE TAKEN SEVERAL LONG BREAKS. NOBODY HAS COMPLETELY CHANGED IT’S SOUND (MUCH OF ITS AUDIENCE) A

Nobody has heard most of these songs because it was during the Michael McDonald period. 😏

I've heard and remember each one of these songs very well! But then I was a huge Doobie Brothers fan from the first song I heard them sing back in the early '70s--Before Michael McDonald took over singing most of the lead. I love everything they've ever done no matter who was singing lead. One of my first albums ever was "The Captain and Me", and "What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits". Both great albums that I still listen too and stay in my playlist! I saw them live in concert when I was only 14 way, Way back when in the early-mid '70s too! Uh oh... Now I'm telling on my age! 😆

@@susanroberts1610: I loved the Doobies, too, but pretty much only the period before Michael McDonald, and the period after he left. In other words, I only liked their music when Tom Johnston was a member of the group. I couldn’t stand Michael McDonald’s voice. All of his music sounded the same.

The Doobies were just a biker rock band before McDonald joined and the writing changed.

NOBODY HAS COMPLETELY CHANGED IT’S SOUND (MUCH OF ITS AUDIENCE) AND ADDED A NEW INGREDIENT HEADED IN A DIFFERENT DIRECTION SOME SAY BETTER. MICHAEL WAS AN ADDITION WHO ALIENATED. BUT WITHOUT HIM THEY WOULD NOT QUITE BE RECOGNIZED BY MANY. I LIKE HIS VOICE BUT IT MUST BE CONNECTED WITH A GREAT SONG. FORTUNATELY THEY CONTINUED TO FEATURE HIM AND STILL PLAY THE HITS. I LOVED BAND ON MOST SONGS NOT ALL. SEVERAL THINGS LIKE MINUTE BY MINUTE , WHAT A FOOL BELIEVES, YOU BELONG TO ME, and his addition to TAKIN IT TO THE STREETS. WERE ROCKET FUEL! THIS PERIOD OF TIME MOST GROUPS HAD AN AOR FEEL. I LIKE THE OLDEST SONGS BEST. REMEMBER JEFF BAXTER PLAYING WITH THEM AND STEELY DAN?
