***DOOBIE BROTHERS TRIVIA TIME!!*** ....It's got to be REAL, love....(5:19)...... - ....WHAT did you say, Empress!?? (1:04) ...au contraire, Love, they were the BIGGEST STARS in 1980! ..this was the anticipated 1st single from the Doobs "One Step Closer" Album....this was the follow up to the MILLIONS selling 1979 "Minute By Minute" Album (w/ "What A Fools Believes")...... - ....but, they didn't anticipate the DRAMA; Half the Band got mad at Michael McDonald doing the lions' share of the Music, and feeling that the Group became, "Michael McDonald & The Supremes".....Patrick Simmons (the guy w/ the white Tie on the cover) was 2nd lead, and he REALLY raised a stink about it's "Yacht Rock" vibe (3:51)...... - ....BUT, the Album underwhelmed, along with this tune.....although it hit #5 Pop (Oct., 1980), it left FAST, along with the Album.....so did half the BAND, because they broke up in 1982 / 1983..... *EXTRA TRIVIA* : ..The Album cover was done by Photog NORMAN SEEFF, a very famous (& EXPENSIVE) Photographer, who loved 'normal light' pictures....He had the Band wake up at 4am to get the rising "sunlight" on the backdrop...only to cause a FIGHT, because he asked Michael to move over, and the band members thought Norman was favoring MICHAEL! ...They also HATED how they looked, because they were tired, and the Record label ran the Photo anyway......

Michael always brings the vocals along with the rest of the group’s harmonies. This song is good, but comparing it to ..Fool.., it does reach that exact level.

honestly. The tune is classic. But the verse is too long. Takes too long ti get back to the "hook". This songs all about the lyrics.
