I'll take this version of Michael McDonald instead of the current version touring now with the Doobies. As we all do, we age and his voice is none the better for it. Never really cared for Michael McDonald while with the Doobies but he did keep them going while Johnston was on leave. But still, for me Michael McDonald, an acquired taste vocally. It'll be interesting to see what he sounds like on their new album in 2025 'Walk This Road'. But again, in the studio is totally different than singing live and what they can do to your voice in the studio these days is ridiculous.
