In March of 1974, The Doobie Brothers did a fantastic version of Without You. Had the honor of seeing the Doobies 4 times and McDonald was never there.

AND one of their best rockin' songs, and that's really getting up there. Few other live bands you will see give that much life to the guitar parts...

Fast forward 20 years and Tom, Pat and the 2 Johns are still kicking ass in concert. I wonder if they had any idea...

Finally..........Something CBS produces is worth watching. The Doobie Brothers always had play time in my dorm room in the early 70's and fraternity parties.

Superior talent, abundance of creativity, coupled with heart & soul dedication to their craft for more than 50 years equals unparalleled, unmatched longevity, that only The Dobbie Brothers can lay claim too. Our thanks to Pat & Tom for keeping the music alive, so the masses can continue, to Listen To The Music. Heartfelt thanks for weaving your messages and music through the pages and chapters of our lives. Eat a Peach

Had no idea Cowan had played with the Doobies before his current run. I recognized him instantly from the head bobbing he does.

It was wrong for Tom Johnson to leave the band when he did. I know he was replaced by Michael McDonald on a tour because Tom had a stomach illness and could not do the tour. After he was better he did return for "Taken It To The Streets" but he should have stayed. He said in an interview that after Michael joined the band, it went in another musical direction. To me, that is sad because it was his band, he and Pat started it. I am glad he did reform the band. My all time favorite. Love these guys.

It wasn't Tom and Pat that started the band,Pat came a little later. The drummer John Hartman and Tom started the band. Pat was in an acoustical band doing gigs around the Bay area.

The RARHOF is a tool of Rolling Stone Magazine. Forget about it. Just an irrelevant publication by a bunch of lefto burnouts that do not realize how out of touch they are.

Love the Doobies, but this one is just a bit self indulgent especially in the solo. Tempo is a tad fast and as a result the original version lost some of its charm...
@timmullens94793 жыл бұрын
3 great players that can play the lead if needed ,but -yea a little overdone here -I like John's solo on one version
