I may be thirteen, and it may seem stupid, but The Doors changed my life. They've given me something to enjoy in the midst of school, tests, and depression. I wish I could personally thank Jim Morrison for showing me that life doesn't need to be so serious all the time. He's my favorite musician, and I don't know what my mental state would be without him and The Doors. Long live The Doors.

When the Doors did Blues Covers it stood out. It wasn’t cheesy and soulless like many other white bands covering blues. The Doors were students of not only Delta Blues but of the marrow of that music the mysticism the spirit of it the real roots of it. They found the light and dark, the back pew the carnal release of it. They became a vessel that channeled those old blues ghosts. It was otherworldly and Jim And Ray knew it was bigger than them .

The Doors had a procedure for songs like this. The three instrumentalists would create what they called "the canvas" and Morrison would paint something on it. They were never quite sure what was coming, and I'm pretty sure Morrison often didn't either. I'm confident that in the early days, before the drugs and alcohol really got a hold over Morrison, that these performances were almost always fresh and exciting. Live at the Hollywood Bowl depicts the Doors in their element on this approach, and Morrison, although I think it likely he was doing LSD, was surreally articulate during that performance. I had the good fortune to see them in Louisville in October of 68, and they were truly fascinating.

That was his spirit guide letting him know it's almost time. You can see Jim's in a shamanic trance. It's interesting the way Jim answers with a not all too enthusiastic "all right". Sort of just resigned to his fate.

@@harryh.2464 I believe that . He was so real , under no illusions . when we in our 20's we dont think about getting old and dying . He did and went for it . I believe he lived everyday like it was his last .

@@Lord_Hillcrest People in their 20s don't think and contemplate about old age and death? I do and I'm 14...

@@Lord_Hillcrest I know you intend well but don't you judge this young persons thoughts. Are you God? Consciousness of life and death is what motivates me to live everyday and will hopefully do that for him too. We will all die. No one get's out of here alive. My son thought these things when only 10 as did I before him. as he became aware of time and losing loved ones. We talked about it. At 20 he is a beautiful caring young man. Most live in the dream nightmare of nothing. Let him awake from slumber and the living death that is the tragic norm. It is fear that crushes the soul.
