The Doors hit the stage at two o'clock in the morning on August 30, 1970. Their set was particularly dark due to lead singer Jim Morrison's unwillingness of film spotlights to be used. Much of the recording sees the group bathed in a single red spotlight. Densmore said of Morrison, "He was like a pot of boiling water with a lid on top. He didn't move a lot, but he sang really strong." Manzarek said of the show, "Our set was subdued but very intense. We played with a controlled fury and Jim was in fine vocal form. He sang for all he was worth, but moved nary a muscle. Dionysus had been shackled

@@CoorsBudMiller74 its strange that they have not released this officially yet. Every other professionally recorded Doors live performance have been released on their entirety . They were suppose. To release the stage recording of Bakersfield 1970 but it got cancelled. Those are the only live recordings they have left that have not been released . Bakersfield is an amazing show. It's the peak of Jim as a blues vocalist. His voice at that show is so deep and full but it's really throaty and raw as well . In spots it's almost ragged but in a good way it's how a bluesman is supposed to sound . Rough ragged and not always pretty. The version of love me two times from that show is incredible. The long blues jam in the middle is insane. It's very tight but also very loose at the same time with Jim grinding out powerful and raw blues vocals

(The studio version on Strange Days) One of the most beautifully intense moments of any rock song ever is when Morrison screams, "Persian Night! See the Light! Save Us! Jesus! Save Us!" The first two lines reference the wise men from the Bible, often referred to as The Magi. The Magi is a priestly caste from ancient Persia. On that Christmas night the Persian Magi looked into the night and saw the Star of Bethlehem. On the album version, Morrison screaming this all out so fiercely yet beautifully is heart stopping.

Please tell us more! I am afraid of a modern civilization that has no moral compass!
@jehanne8610 Жыл бұрын
@@mccauleyprop ------ The evidence for the Judeo-Christian God is irrefutable. So is heaven and hell. Why does the world play Russian Roulette with their eternity? One visionary who saw the Virgin Mary repeated what Mary told her --- “What angers our Lord greatly about those who have much is their shameless immorality and foul ingratitude.” Searing words! And Jesus told his apostles “too many people have a sluggish heart preventing them from seeing or hearing.” Simple as that. Too lazy or afraid to care. So we occupy our time with our own idols and pleasures, and God is cast aside, creating a life long pattern hard to break. Life is a trial from heaven. At a minimum, one should pray fervently and sorrowfully every single day.

Sad how underrated Robbie is a guitar player. What a sonic soundscape this band produced. Almost 50 years on this is still captivating.

Always loved how Robby never seemed to stick with the same exact solo every time. He kept the basic elements but would go elsewhere with it aside from that. Enjoyed that a lot.

freeze frame 7:56. haunting gaze. one of the last times the lizard king would stare down at the ambiance only his presence & music could create. insane how deep this dude could get into his muse. few in the history of the genre ever had this guys magnetism. a true giant in rock.

Maybe THE DOORS were a little underrated if i may say so. A great poet Jim was and the best singer of all times. Nothing more to say. Rip Jim Morrison.

like Ray said in one of the interviews, we think of The Doors as of this type of underground band and its nice, people ask you "Hey, do you know... The Doors?" :D

I wasn't there in the 60s but it seems to me there was so much going down that people had a hard time keeping track of it all. Now we look back on the 60s at our leisure we have time to take it all in and recognise the many great artists that distinguished that extraordinary decade.

Such a sensitive performance from Jim here. Amazing given what he was going through at the time. You hear him channeling all that pain. That manic psychedelic sound from the band is so prophetic too.

he was carrying a piano on his back up to stage by this point... all things considered this is indeed a very gutty performance. a last proud stand... dallas & new orleans were dead man walking.

The first band I ever got into. I’m a mid 80’s baby so I was there for Nirvana and SG and Pearl Jam. The Doors was really the first band I ever got into like into. I knew nothing about how to play music, or write a song. They just blew me away, and when Jim Screams “when the music is your special friend” that was the heaviest sh’t ever. Way heavier than anything Nirvana or Metallica could do. Like that was heavy metal. A voice. I miss my own innocence
