The Doors are one of the few bands that sound nearly identical in live performances to their albums.

@@420Gold So was I (but never tried LSD). Jim's concerts were fantastic; they were artistic "happenings" ... one never knew what he'd do next. They played much as on their albums, but too improvised a lot. And as above, he'd give occasional little aside talks to the audience.

So what lsd does to you? Did you meet Morrison? What was those concerts about? Now I guess just a shadow left.

Did Morrison enter your soul? Was there some real input ? I ask cos I only know him second hand x

One of the best Robbie Krieger solos in my opinion. I believe the addition of Harvey Brooks on Bass helped keep the band tight and on course as much as possible this night.

Because The Doors were trying to start a revolution. You can't have the backing of the establishment on that.

The song doesn't match the lp version that we are watching, however you can tell that the sound of the video including the song was a live performance event. It was a lp with bunch of edited videos slapped on together to fill the lp because there probably isn't one considering how long ago it was.

These guys could put on a show! Made Elvis look like a dork..
@islipperyfellow64873 жыл бұрын
Not really. Different eras. Elvis was rock and roll. The doors were psychedelic/acid rock. So music and performance would obviously be very different. Elvis was very mobile and a zestful performer while Morrison was immobile. In fact, in most concerts, Jim never even moved away from the microphone at all, compared to contemporary artists such as Jagger who evidently had made such a name for his enthusiastic performances that a song was written about him - "moves like jagger". You might remember Elvis from the late 70s but any time before that, it was exhausting just seeing him shaking his legs and dancing and singing from one end of the stage to the other. Again, two very different genres, hence, two very different approaches. Elvis' gyrating hips wouldn't be well suited to blues/psychedelic rock and likewise, Jim's immobile position and slurring and cussing would feel very out of place in upbeat rock and roll.

Let’s not go overboard. Jim was inspired by Elvis Presley, Gene Vincent and Frank Sinatra. I’d say he had the voice of Sinatra, looks of Elvis and edginess of Vincent.

The film & the sounddtrack are out of synch, Morrison is singing & the film is showing him with his mouth completely closed. Unless he is a ventriloquist, something is noticably off here. Watch & see.
