I ordered this on the day it came out. It’s wonderful to listen to , a real snapshot in time, never to be repeated. It’s like listening to them in a smoky jazz club with polite clapping by a few in the crowd. If only they knew what was to come and how huge the band and Jim in particular would be. Absolutely timeless music, my teenage sons love the band.

Hi Pete totally agree on bootlegs ok even if you're a collector no point in getting if sound quality is poor you're listening pleasure is obviously diminished. Ok some people say ah well thats how it was raw but there is a difference between raw and unlistable . Cheers

Just want to say like the way you show whats in the cds and box having listened to it, as opposed to unboxing then listen to it after and they either never review or never see it again. Mainly reaction channels lol . Have a wonderful weekend. Got my medicine for the weekend from the music doctor.

Phil, Interesting review, thank you. I am a big Doors fan, yet have never heard of this one. In checking out this on Amazon U.S., I found only the Electra July 11, 2023 release. However, in reading the notes, it does mention original tape masters to be released on Sept. 8th. Why Amazon in U.S. has not posted it yet remains a question. On the Rhino web site I found the answer, Not currently available (cd), vinyl is in stock .I do have the Doors live in Pittsburgh 1970 cd by Rhino, which sounds pretty good.

Good stuff Phil. Completely with you regarding Bootlegs. I learned my lesson over forty years ago, when I used to buy bootleg cassettes from a guy in a local market. This release is a great piece of music history and the sound quality is excellent. Trying to imagine the scene is part of the allure. And yes, how many people were actually in the audience and what did Jim do during the instrumental work outs? I am happy with the CD version, easier to handle and £100 cheaper than the vinyl.

looks like a great set from this seminal US rock band ! yes, bootlegs are funny beasts ! as you say sound quality is nearly always dreadful BUT there is always this fanciful notion in your head of some guy ( nearly always guys you notice ) with his cassette recorder say at a 1970 Pink Floyd concert that casts a certain kinda spell tho.....

Did you say there is a 9 minute song on a 7 inch record or am I misunderstanding? I assume it plays at 33rpm otherwise there will probably be a bit of inner groove distortion. May go for CD if that is the case.

Hallo again Phil First I will say Im a huge Doors fan but first the bootleg long time ago, then the 2 album version from 2008 and now this. Like John Lydon said, youve been cheated.....

I avoided the other versions because I heard they were more like bootlegs so for me this is my first with these recordings. I can imagine if you had bought the other versions you would feel that way. However, if you are a fan for £15 the 3CD version is a revelation compared with the previous editions. Phil
