Ray doesn’t come off well in this clip- maybe partially the annoyance of being cut short on the show, time wasted. But he seems kinda egotistical. I’ve watched a number of other clips of Ray, and he comes off certainly better- but after reading Robby’s book, Ray also seems like the type who would have rather told a good story than the truth. That said, his musical genius contributed greatly to the Doors, a highly talented musician. RIP Ray- thanks for your hand in the Doors legacy.
@Michael6911 ай бұрын
Yeah, Ray had a knack for storytelling! He was a natural at keeping a flow of a story going and getting everyone on the edge of their seats. Unfortunately, he often did this by embellishing reality and outright fabricating things said and done. At least he was still a decent guy - the same can't be said for Densmore. There was a reason Jim didn't like him, he didn't get along with Ray and currently Robby, too.

@onthegrindhustlin11 ай бұрын
@@villllFrom most accounts Jim was a real nice guy and had a great sense of humor. Unfortunately he was also an alcoholic and the booze did not bring out the best in him. I personally talked to his former bodyguard, Tony Funches, before he passed away, and he said Jim was a great guy.

@@Michael69 LOL. Densmore may very well be the most dignified of them all, having saved their legacy in court. And in fact he was the last band member Jim has ever spoke to via phone.

Ray was Jim's friend, so obvious it was a real friendship. To be asked about the rumor of your friend being alive, and that it's all a hoax, it can hit you right in the soul. No way would a friend make jokes about that. He didn't. It freakin' hurts to lose your buddies, especially the best of them.
