One of the bassline shown on that video that is the one for Tempus Fujit also uses the minor 6th in that bassline though.

Thanks Paul !1 Gotta love the minor scale, pure rock ! Stupid question, is a perfect 6th up a half step ?

Interesting stuff Paul. And a very good job describing this with some clear examples. What still confuses me with the modes, is this. if I am a playing in D Dorian, is the rest of the band doing that as well? For example, when writing a song, would you tell your bandmates, this is in the key of D Dorian? Or would the Dorian mode work over other keys? Thanks.

D Dorian 'works' under any key of the C major scale. If you play D dorian and the guitar plays C ionian or A Aeolian or any key of the major scale you're still in key. I'm working on a video on this topic 👊

@@PaulDelBelloYT Ah, ok!! That makes sense because all the notes are in the key of C major or A minor. Thanks! And nice job at the end of the video demonstrating how to build a bass line with this. I had commented before watching the part. Looking forward to learning more. Thanks!

Would it not be more efficient to play more of those higher notes on the first five frets, moving to higher strings when needed?
