Halfway through season 5 the series takes a dark turn as sam discovers the dark story behind his creation, that he is just a clone of the original and all of the clones before him were killed by doug, doug is revealed to be the main villain whos been cloning sam and set up this whole sitcom to gather enough energy to summon high demon elgrim just like his previous master billy mays wanted who he also killed, everyone has to team up to stop doug and high demon Elgrim

They filmed the first episode early to show the studio as a pilot, so Sam 26 did get to play the part at first, and after his death he was replaced by more Sam clones as the series went on. However, since they often use multiple Sams in each episode, the show's creators couldn't be bothered to update the number in the credits every time, so they just kept it as 26. None of the Sams have actually seen the show so they don't complain. They are too young to watch the show due to it's graphic violence, swearing, explicit sexual references, and drug use among other things, most of which is due to Twitch Chat's character, who the studio have tried many times to censor, without success. (Since this is the internet I regretfully feel the need to clarify in advance that I am not completely insane and this comment is in fact, a joke.)
