The worst thing they did to showcase is that slingshot if I wanted to watch the match I would I wanna see it recreated with gameplay like 2k15

As a content creator, I dislike Showcase now simply for the real life footage. I miss in game cutscenes. If we get real life footage again, fine, I will just crop out the footage owned by WWE.

@@bkny425 It's not even about real life footage being in there, it's the fact that showcase isn't what it used to be. No commentary or entrances and when we do see the entrances in exhibition, sometimes their titantrons are completely wrong. (Take The Rock 01 or Randy Orton 15 for some examples) And then you have the legends that get those stupid legend titantrons with their name zooming in and out of the screen. So annoying to me because in my opinion, a titantron is what shows off a wrestler. And let's just say they can't get a certain legend's titantron in there, just make one that looks unique. It's not the same, but at least it's something.

And another thing I liked about the showcase was that in 2K15, if you failed a showcase match, there would be alternate commentary. I remember fondly when I failed the first match in the "Hustle Loyalty Disrespect" showcase; Michael Cole commented on how John Cena won and retained the title, and Lawler told Punk not to let the door hit him in the butt on the way out. Details like that are awesome.

They still have some of those in modern ones, notably Eddie taking off Rey's mask if you lose, and Cena being a total dipstick if he defeats RVD in ECW (unique heel championship winning animation I have him in regular matches)

I still play 2k14. Still the *ONLY* WWE game with every WrestleMania (When it released) The Streak leaderboards are still up. Get to defeat the streak (If you pick someone who faced Undertaker at WrestleMania. The game will automatically choose the WrestleMania they faced off at IRL) Create a finisher and create a story. Each DLC pack has a free sample to download Infinite finishers

wwe 13 was fire and i genuinely wanted to play it but nowadays i just do it for the arenas

Maybe because back then you can play however you want as long as you complete the objective whereas now you have to do everything down to the specifics.

Yeah it was match with extra objectives up to and including 2k20 and after Visual Concepts took over it turned into glorified Simon says (2k20 originals showcases were also annoying to complete).

They had Rey and the nWo. They could have showcased the lawn dart incident when Nash threw Rey head first into the TV trailer. Or Rey vs Syxx in WCW. Cross-referencing Rey with the roster st least gives you Rey vs Cena. Edit: They had the nWo Souled Out Arena. Eddy vs Syxx was on there. Could have had a bonus match and another cool set of gear for Eddy. The white long boys with the tank top. Nick Patrick as a ref would have been cool. THQ might have done that.

they need to scrap the showcase and bring back road to wrestlemania like svr2011 with backstage sandbox mode. also it will eliminate the need for the player to perform certain moves as objectives that feels like chore rather than enjoyment

I hate showcase so much I just turned it to easy and made everyone tap out if I want the characters I’ll waste 20 minutes

I am not sure how you could label 2k20 as the start of showcase decline, when 2k17 and 18 didn't even HAVE a showcase mode, and in 2k20, showcase was one of very few things done right, the game itself was littered with bugs and glitches, but that had nothing to do with Showcase design, which seems to be done by Yuke's before Visual Concepts took over. Also both 2k16 and 2k17 had DLC showcases for Hall of Fame, with one match for each inductee of the previous year, the one in 2k16 rocked. I haven't played 2k19 Daniel Bryan showcase far enough to judge really if it started to stink back then.
