I feel like New Horizons was a good game, just not a good Animal Crossing game. When you get down to brass tax, everything from the villagers, to the features, even to the music was substandard by every metric. This. This is exactly how I felt. New Horizons pretty much lost everything that made Animal Crossing what it was. New Horizons is a building game with life simulation aspects but they took the back seat. They focused way too much on island customization instead of making villagers interesting or having an actual town to visit. The building is a cool idea but it gets old since it’s pretty much the entire game. Can’t forget the lack of content and removal of way too many features. I hope they go back to a true life simulation game for the next game in the series

Funny, I just got off of Animal Crossing 😅 I had ACNH burnout for a long while (probably about over a year) but in the last week or two I've gotten back on it. The biggest gripe I have about the game is that Nintendo said that they were going to continue updating it over the years, but they basically stopped after 2.0 (not to mention the bland villagers).

I dont think new horizons is a bad game, but it had potential to be amazing. Everyone new to the series I've talked to has enjoyed the game, but all the veterans of the series have been at least somewhat disappointed. As someone who grew up with this game I was so so stoked for it and it was really unfortunate after that first week when i learned that's all there was to the game

new horizons just didn’t have that good ol nostalgic animal crossing feel to it.. the game felt rushed, and your role as just another islander instead of someone in charge like a mayor ruined the whole feel to it. the villagers feel lifeless, and i feel like they could’ve really expanded on the customization (as you said) a lot more. what if i didn’t wanna make an island? what if i wanted it to be a village like new leaf? what if i wanted it to take place on the moon or etc… it just feels like no matter how you customize your island whether it’s a city or a village like the old games, you eventually always see the beach and the endless ocean and it ruins the islands theme.

if they NEVER EVER started the animal crossing series and this was the first game id totally say this is a good basic game and or a good first starter game for the series to come but knowing it was the the 5th iteration of the game makes it suck so much more.

to tbh i so kinda agree with the NH statement. once you have fully decked out your island, then what? you can get the DLC but once you’ve done your 50 homes then what? My favourite thing in new leaf was i never ran out of things to do. weather i was going to visit friends, go to the happy home academy or even the island. i never got bored. i could play those island games ALL DAY. New Horizons is definitely i fun add to series and got a lot of much needed upgrades but you also just run out of things to do.

I also never liked new horizons and will forever keep New Leaf close to my heart, but I would’ve liked if you could’ve elaborated on the more personal reasons why you may not like the game. I know there’s a lot of horizons videos out there sort of explain everything wrong with it, but I’m always opening to hearing someone else’s point of view of why they don’t like it compared to what other videos may say. But overall new leaf reigns the best!

Like. In New Leaf when you basically have months playing your small "city" street will be full of stores and lights and characters walking around. But in New Horizons you have 2 stores. One upgrades ONCE and never again. The other not even upgrades.

Even in "character background" this game feels like 2 steps back. In Wild World and Let's Go to the City you had the story of the Able Sisters separated. Mable and Sable in WW and Lable in LGTC. And in New Leaf they finally made their differences aside and joined again. But nah forget that now she appears sometimes some random day of the week or lives in a park of another island.

After playing new horsions for 180 hours, new leaf 70 hours, and wild world 30 hours, I can't see how new horsions didn't have enough content compared to the other titles. My New Horisons house is still missing the basement after that amount of time but my new leaf house is basically done. Aswell, I've nearly completed main street and now I'm just left with nothing to do. I could do minigames till the end of time, but for what purpose? At this point I'm trying to scan my favourite New Horsions villager (Axel, don't judge) because I'm struggling to connect to any of my other villagers in New Leaf. I mean I like Papi but I don't feel like I wanna talk to him everytime I see him like my New Horizons villagers. Now after playing New Leaf I can say I wish many of it's features (Main street, Club Tortimer etc) were in New Horizons, but I think the new features out weigh the old. It may be controversial, but I actually prefer the dodo island tours compared to Club Tortimer. They all felt unique but you probably didn't even notice that each New Leaf island was different. Also the Internet, though free, is prone to disconnections and infested with hackers. I didn't suffer the same issue with the newer entry. Does anyone know what else there is to aim for in New Leaf? I don't feel like it has the same post-ending as New Horizons. Even Wild World is better in that regard, bells are much harder to get in that game and I feel like there is still a lot to do. I don't hate New Leaf, but I'm stuck on what to do next. Sorry for the essay, I don't have anything better to do haha.

I think if you had gotten into the older games you’d have a more accurate perspective on where a lot of us are coming from. AC was great because it felt like there was no ending at in sight. There was always something to do whether it was events, furniture, special villagers or whatever. It worked I’m the format of jumping on for a couple hours a day to chat with your villagers, check shops and work to fund your next town project. The villagers had interesting things to say, they’d come visit you and play games. Putting up a new object felt monumental because you had to fund the construction instead of just being able to place things wherever you want. New Horizons isn’t a bad game when looked at on its own, but it’s not great when compared to the other games in how they encouraged players to play in a slow burn, chipping away at projects while just enjoying the presence of your villagers. NH has better controls and quality of life features, which makes it harder for NH players to go back to the older games, but for old school players it’s clear that the new games have more features, they aren’t nearly as deep and fleshed out as the older games.

ty for doing this Video its the exact thing i was looking for. My favourite animal crossing game of all time is also New Leaf, i still think that it is nearly perfect. Idk if its just me, but i think that the vibe of the game hits just different. I love almost everything about this game. So i also were and still am very dissapointed of New Horizons. It doesnt have such a nice vibe, I mean yes it has cool new features, but the amount of old features missing is just so sad. It had so much potential, and I think that if Nintendo would update it, it could be a much much better game, but i guess they will not do that wich is really sad..

Tbh acnh would have probably done better if it didmt feel like more of a making a dollhouse type game, i found it annoying how you couldnt interact with allot of things, it felt like you couldnt even make your money's worth.

While New Horizons may have just been a bump in the road with its mistake I dont think its the end all be all for the series. New Horizons gives me hope for the next Animal Crossing. I think Nintendo will listen to us because we've seen that they have listened to us from time to time. I think the next Animal Crossing will be what New Horizons was supposed to be.

nah i think they told us to fuck off with this game. they literally showed us some cool shit for E3 in 2019 then took it away and redesigned it completely into what we have today. Then stopped for covid then restarted to give us a unfinished game with lackluster updates. They told us 2.0 is done finished the end and i totally feel they're not going to ever make another animal crossing after this one. they could have put their tom nookussy into this game and given everything we asked for plus more and they failed to do that. the only game i felt that gave us everything we asked for and more and felt like a step up was new leaf.

New horizons is a great decorating game. Which is why its my favourite buuut i have to agree that it is really disappointing for ac fans. Its like the genre changed. From life sim to only decorating . Its like u buy a zelda game but the puzzles are missing. Great game , but its not a game ac fans wanted.
