the remake im happy to say sort of does that, after you beat the game the main menu screen changes and now you see a looping rotation of the village in the opening chapter but now with no ganados/enemies - most likely because of the grip via the plagas and saddler being removed by leon and therefore they probably died without a host. there isnt exactly the same showcase of life before and of the village when they weren't taken over but it does hit the same tragic side of things were it shows life at its most simple and natural state and allows things to be bittersweet. Leon succeeded even if he couldn't save all the villagers "save 1 life, doom a 100", but he did save ashley and stop anybody else including the world at large from falling to the plagas and los illuminados. While the village is now empty, the memory of the village and their lives before they were taken advantage of has returned and can stay forever without being ruined again. It's quite dreamlike, a stark contrast to the nightmare of the previous raccoon city incident and that things can change for the better if people like Leon keep fighting. The village as in the buildings, the wandering chickens and wind howling among the empty wooden structures and paths remain but now they are left to rest, finally given the peace they deserved all along after suffering from being infected by the plagas and be forced to become zombies under an evil like saddler. Raccoon City had to be destroyed, but the small village can stay and be brought back into the hands of the innocent lives that inhabited it just before, able to be remembered now for their simple lives and families instead of the horrible traumatic world they were forced to endure until Leon arrived.

One of the most wasted and disappointing things about Bitores Mendez in original RE4 that Appeared prominently in much of the ad materials, and posters of resident evil 4 implying he was the main antagonist (when it actually was his boss Osmund Saddler the mastermind behind the storyline) or major or recurring antagonist or at least someone that is important to main game when in reality he was just a Starter Villain who's killed barely a quarter of the way into the game in fact he unimportant in main storyline having the least onscreen presence compared to Jack Krauser Ramon Salazar and Osmund Saddler also unlike them he has the least amount of dialogue having only line He only speaks once in the entire game, to foreshadow Leon's status as a Plaga host, but otherwise settles for quietly glaring and grunting and also out of all major antagonists in RE4 he also one that Leon has nether conversation speaking nor dialogue with whatsoever to me Bitores Mendez is what I call they wasted perfectly good character and antagonist

The end credits sequence showing the village in happy, peaceful times, with children playing, etc., always made me sad, knowing the evil that would befall them. I'm glad that was preserved in the remake. Unfortunately, Valdelobos will never return to that, but at least the player can take solace knowing they've avenged those poor people.

So the story of the village in 4 never quite sat right with me because of how hard it is for just one person to give up on their religion, there would have had to be some massive event to change the whole village or even to change enough of the villages to start turning the rest of them, by even I’m talking a few years of famine or droughts maybe a sighting of some kind that they could misunderstand as a message from their god. The village from 4 would have made far more sense if it was the situation from outlast 2 (basically a cult formed the police raided the place the cult was staying in a mapped city so they then went out into the middle of nowhere and built the town/village/settlement we see from outlast 2) as is they had way too much money, resources and manpower for what we see I mean if there was something else behind the cult (so you had the village that’s a front for the castle that’s a front for the cult that’s a front for whatever shadowie organisation that’s running it all from behind he scene, if that’s the actual story of RE4 then I somehow missed the last part)

Manipulation plain and simple. Saddler knew that a devout, pious religious man such as Mendez could easily be swayed and manipulated simply by saying what he wanted to hear. Saddler would have told Mendez under false pretences obviously that "God" spoke to Saddler and made him a prophet of the faith and that Mendez was "chosen" to help resurrect the religion. Once Mendez was wrapped around Saddlers thumb he knew that the villagers would easily be convinced as they respected and revered Mendez immensely.

Silent Hill was not always the quiet and dream world horror we know . in fact the town was full of life once people were nice friendly and very welcoming towards each other before cult groups came they moved right into the town conducting rituals opening doors to other worlds they believed only the worthy can exist in a paradise for all of those worshiping some God . Racoon City might be gone however the monsters created are still in a large population the remaining Stars fight to release a cure and help bring the human race back again .
