Some corrections: 4:10 Egwene did not "follow" Moiraine and the boys to Baerlon. She was with them right from the start in Emond's Field. So was Thom Merrilin. Also, technically Rand was the only one who briefly met Fain. 4:28 Basically everyone they met knew they came with Moiraine. What Min knew (and Rand denied) was that Moiraine was Aes Sedai (and that her name was Moiraine). 5:22 That is definitely not the Spray (Domon's ship). It had masts and a cabin; it wasn't some basic flat-bottomed craft. 6:10 "Shadowfriend" is not a term used within the Wheel of Time. The Aiel say "Shadowrunner" and the rest say "Darkfriend". More importantly, while the Whitecloaks certainly held Perrin's eyes against him, he did kill two of them at their first encounter. That was the bigger reason for naming him a Darkfriend. 6:30 "The Blue Ajah" refers collectively to the Blue Ajah organization. A single member may be referred to as "the Blue" or "the Blue Ajah sister", but never as "the Blue Ajah". Also Moiraine knew Nynaeve could channel back in Emond's Field. She did not discover it en route to Caemlyn. Rather, that's when she revealed to Nynaeve that Nynaeve could channel. Also, Moiraine never decided to teach Nynaeve, though she did (sort of) convince her to learn. 6:40 AFAIK Moiraine had nothing to do with Nynaeve skipping over the novice stage. Certainly she never had any dialogue or POV thought to that effect. Siuan Sanche is the one who made that decision. 7:20 Technically "the bard" did tell them to seek out the Queen's Blessing, but it feels like there's some missing content here. In the book, being a bard was technically mentioned, but the boys thought of him as a gleeman. In this video, I don't think a connection between Thom and being a bard has been established. 8:32 Is "Sons" supposed to refer to the Children of the Light? Because they're never called the "sons" in the books or even amongst the fandom. 9:24 The wording here makes it sound like multiple Blues tried to Heal Mat while they were in Caemlyn. It was only Moiraine. When multiple Aes Sedai were involved in Healing Mat later in Fal Dara and then Tar Valon, it was not limited to Blue Ajah sisters. 9:56 Nitpick, but the Eye of the World did not appear in their dreams. It was simply mentioned by Ba'alzamon. 10:00 The Ways are never referred to as "the Roads". Also, "Ogier" is both singular and plural - "Ogiers" is not a word. 11:14 The Eye of the World was not the "source" of saidin. That would be the True Source, a metaphysical location. The Eye was merely a pool of "the essence" of saidin. Basically, it stored some clean saidin, but was absolutely not the "source" of saidin. 14:16 Moiraine doesn't tell Rand he's the Dragon until later, when they've all spent weeks back at Fal Dara.

Also, the Eye wasn't the first place Rand drew the power. He had been drawing on it here and there through the book, but that was foreshadowing and not stated as being him drawing the power. The main scene I remember this in was when Mat and Rand were escaping the store room and the lightning destroyed the bars on the window. Bards are mentioned, but they're definitely not the same as a gleeman and I don't remember actually meeting a bard in the books.

@@TravisSimmons No, they pronounce it the same as both the audiobooks and how I pronounce it, even if it is slightly incorrect (CWAIN-der-ya). I also generally find it hard to care about WoT mispronunciations, given that the audiobooks are inconsistent and much of the pronunciation is unintuitive even to native English speakers. As for Rand's channeling, yeah, I didn't catch that they said the Eye was his first time channeling, which would have been during the ride from Emond's Field to Taren Ferry (refreshing Bela). Bards are not the same as gleemen, but Thom was both a bard and a gleeman. So referring to him as a bard is accurate enough, just a bit odd.

While in Shadar Logoth, Rand, Matt & Perrin meet with a stranger and Matt steals a dagger with a Red Ruby... as this is of HUGE importance in the later story, leaving that out makes much of the rest of the series incomprehensible. Because of his possession of and by the Dagger, Matt becomes increasingly unwell and is virtually carried by Rand on the last part of their journey to Caemlyn...

Further, given that Moraine had given the boys "Tracer coins " BEFORE the Trollock attack, she was clearly planning on approaching them BEFORE their families' houses were attacked - and those errors were just in the first five minutes... Nynaeve solo tracked them, because Egwene was her apprentice and she wanted to protect the boys from the Aes Sedai...

Considered the internal monologue heavy nature of the books, the somewhat dispersed side characters and villains, the need to condense 14 books intoshow format, and the benefits of expanding on villains, i think they are doing fine. There are some changes that were outrught bad, but so far into the show right now, i think its doing well. WoT was always going to be a very challenging adaptation, especially in the profit oriented atmosphere of media these days. But yeah, in the end im glad they stuck to book lore on this one.

If they really wanted to refer to her using her Ajah it should have been "blue sister". If they write about The Ajah doing something that means the organization is acting, not an individual member of it.

@@tomm8120 LLT, was known as The Dragon, not the Dragon Reborn. While the soul of LLT/Rand has been reborn countless times to fight the DO, most of those incarnations are lost to time and myth. In the current age, when one talks about the Dragon Reborn, one is really saying LLT reborn because there is no knowledge of any others. Even in the Age of legends, it is unlikely they were aware of previous instances of the Dragon, save perhaps vague myths which may be where LLT’s nickname came from. But it seems clear from various forsaken’s thoughts that the concept of a specific soul being reborn at a specific time was a somewhat novel idea to them.

No, there is no canon on that subject. I don't think there's even any statements from Robert Jordan beyond saying that at some point in the cycle, knowledge of the Power is lost and then re-discovered. Certainly there's no details on "who" or "how".

So it's actually the Dragon (NOT REBORN) that returns, and because of the way he returns (being reborn) and to differentiate him, he's usually called the Dragon Reborn.

As a book reader, I can answer this. Lews Therin was also the Dragon Reborn. His soul is bound to the wheel of time, meaning that he's reincarnated over and over and over again all throughout time whenever he's needed. He's lived countless lives before he was ever Lews Therin Telamon.

Theres a slight misunderstanding with this. There is a champion of the light - this figure is reborn again and again to serve his purpose through each turning kd the wheel. However Lews Therin is only "The Dragon". That is the singular name of the 2nd age that he earned during that age only due to his character and actions during the War of Power. Rand is the Dragon Reborn that is: Lews Therin reborn. Hence Lews Therin is not the reborn one, but the original Dragon. Them being iterations of a singular being, constantly spun out by the wheel is unknown to the public. He could have been called Phoenix or Fireheart or the Titan for all we know in other turnings of the wheel but in this he is called Dragon and there is only one Dragon and one Dragon reborn. They are titled individual names and are not interchangeable.

It has been bothering me for some time that the description in the videos for these books seems off somehow (still LEAGUES better than amazons bs though), and I think I have an idea of why. These videos feel like it is an A.I. description of the story, hitting the points of the story but missing small nuances and making small errors (such as the WAYS being called ROADS). I came to this conclusion based off the artwork shown for the video, as it looks like what you would get if you used an AI art generator to make scenes from the books, close but not quite correct. Still a better interpretation than amazon's hatchet job

I feel like you are trying to cover too much in a too short video, and making small mistakes from it or ommiting certain events a bit to much. I think it might be better if this was 2 video's of something like 20' (though 15' would likely suffice too). There are many changes made that were completely unnecessary. I never expected the show to adapt everything completely as in the books, but I did expect the main storylines and character traits/relations to be mostly accurate, which it just isn't. I hoped with Amazon funds it could be like LOTR and Game of Thrones adaptations, but it feels more like sword of truth and Shannara adaptations (though higher visual quality). Ie not terrible if you ignore the books, but not that good either and definitely a terrible letdown if you've read the books.

I can understand why you think they are making unreasonable changes, but each change has a reason. Ishamael not being insane was changed to make it easier to digest, Matt 'leaving' his friends behind whilst is something I personally disagreed with- he was still under the affects of the dagger, still is- and the actor had to leave to show for unexpected reasons. I could sit here all day trying to explain the changes they made were necessary for the TV SHOW. The writers don't have the luxury of adding every bit of lore us book fans might know, it's a TV show with limited episodes and time. The adaptations you mentioned had so much lore cut and characters changed, or entirely removed or combined.. Are the show writers not allowed to do the same to WOT? If you don't like it, that's fine- but don't compare it to the books. Nothing will hold a candle to the true source material in the hearts of us fans. (Also the writers of the show only were only able to get 8 episodes a season. I'm sure they'd stick closer to the material if they could. If you wanna be mad- be mad at Amazon)

So anyone coming with them having limited episodes or time and tha being the reason for the changes, I don't buy that. I can start listing several changes they made that were unnecessary, but I guess that won't move this conversation along. It really feels like the producers wanting to change it to their view, to push their agenda, not doing their best to adapt the story to the screen. I believe a producer even said/indicate something like that.
