Wipes just don't break down, even after 30+ years. Who on earth flushes them down the toilet anyway, I know I never have. They are alcohol based and used for wiping/sanitizing hands and get thrown in the bin. After enough time in the bin they become bone dry. Who's using those in a bathroom and flushing it? Madness!

The covered accesss area where the sewer pipes come together at a single collection point and then drain into the main sewer are not common here in the USA. Seems like a bad spot that will always clog. Keeps you guys busy!!!! Also interesting the UK allows outdoor drains to drain into the main sewer! Here in the US, outdoor landscaping drains cannot drain into the sewer system and must be daylighted in a lower drainage area.

That one is actually badly designed, the flow in pipes more or less at 90 degrees. Basically all the house pipes go into one inspection and rodding point before into the public sewer. Now grey water (rain run off) has to be managed within the property boundaries in things like soak always. In my 1850s property all the pipes off one property go to a manhole point, and then it collects as it runs behind another 6 properties, accumulating at a lager group inspection rodding manhole before it all goes into the main sewer running underneath the middle of the street. The engineering in the 1800s was built to last that's for sure.

In the countries of the former USSR this problem is almost unknown - sewers are always of large diameter and with a height difference. Outside buildings usually 400-1000mm diameter. Inside buildings - usually 100/120mm diameter Clogs are usually caused by partial destruction of pipes and soil ingress.

I saw many videos and similar sewers made from modern materials usually in western countries (or colonies) You may be surprised, but 40 years ago, toilet paper was not widespread in the USSR. They used to wipe their ass with Pravda newspaper. And for a 110mm house sewer, that wasn't a problem. It was all about the slope of the pipes and the amount of water when flushing. In the USSR, there were large flush tanks, five liters or even more, not economical ones like now.

Can you show the one when Joe was fairly new and he and Andy went to this house. The back garden needed cutting, there was a retaining wall and a path between it and the house. I can't help but think you guys could benefit from what septic companies in the states call a "crust buster", basically just a plaster mixer attached to a weed trimmer type engine.
