White was obviously winning from start of the video 0:37 Bc5 was bad blunder 1.Ka5 was winning plan, black cannot check because a1 square is protected by bishop and after 1.Ka5 Kb7 .2 Na6 Rd1 3.Nc5+ Ka8 black king does not have very important access to b7 square. Now almost every reasonable move wins. Tough luck for GM, but position was not so easy to calculate in seconds. I wonder how old endgame masters would have played it in their best days : Capablanca, Karpov ?

@@claudiog7692 I am sure they sometimes played endgames in bad time trouble. Even though there was adjourments also. I myself witnessed how Hillar Kärner checkmated Mikhail Tal on board in mutual bad time trouble in Tallinn 1983 . Too bad Estonian TV did not keep video about it in archives, ( lot of TV archives were destroyed later ) it was certainly one of the most exciting chess experience for Estonian chess fans.

While I agree with your sentiment, the term “kid” in chess has little significance. It’s like saying “kudos to the kid for clapping the adult on PlayStation”. So many kids better than adults in these fields. He’s only a temporary FM: a question of time, not ability.

@nurzur I don’t get yours, and I don’t see how it is a good analogy. You being impressed by someone who is or was better than you has little to do with my point. (Which is why you didn’t get it I guess: my point is about the term kid. In wrestling, to use your example, a kid beating an adult would truly be unexpected, and the term kid would have huge significance. In the fields I mentioned, a kid beating an adult is not only possible, but commonplace.)

@nurzur ​what are you even talking about? This is the second time you completely missed the point. There is absolutely no significance in being a kid and beating an adult in fields such as video games and chess, because being an adult does not necessarily confer an advantage: in fact, it might even be disadvantageous. Meanwhile, a kid beating an adult in wrestling, boxing or athletics would be far more significant. My point still stands.

@nurzur My opinion is as true today as it always was. You're not even getting it, so you're not really qualified to pass judgment. Once again, being a kid in fields like chess and video games is absolutely insignificant, unlike in other fields where it matters a lot if a kid holds an adult.
