@Jimmy Doran Most of it is the hourly rate charge for the shop, not much different from other manufacturers at the valve check service interval.
@AT2Productions4 жыл бұрын
@Jimmy Doran YOU ... HEARD ... WRONG. I have an '05 Monster 620. The belts and valve check are every 7,500 miles or two years, whichever is first. On my bike it's not that invasive of a service check, the benefit of an air-cooled engine. On water-cooled it's more time consuming since you have to remove the radiator to get to the horizontal cylinder. The newer the Ducati, the longer that valve check has become. Some aren't even by years anymore, it's purely mileage, 15,000 to 18,000 miles depending on the bike. So yeah, your information wasn't just wrong, but dead fucking wrong.
@EPeltzer2 жыл бұрын
This is the single best video that convinced me I never want to actually own a Ducati. Seems quite ironic that they're working on a BMW right next to this. On the boxer twin to access the valves, you kneel down and unbolt the valve cover! To just access the valve covers on the Ducati you have to disassemble much of the bike and it takes about 2-3 hours. Though probably on an air cooled naked bike like a Monster or a gt1000 is probably much simpler? I hope.

@AT2Productions4 жыл бұрын
@Jimmy Doran Thank you for perpetuating a now myth with the post-2005/6 vintage engines. The original cause of this myth was the recommended service interval for the valve check on the mid-to-late 90's era engines, that's no longer the case. Current engines are ~9,000 miles (or annually) for oil changes and ~18,000 miles for the valve check, those used to be at 7,500 miles (depending on the engine). And yes, like all other bikes, new models end up with recall work. But the stigma of unreliable came from those desmo services and Ducati owners initially being affluent people who didn't mind paying the money for a shop to do every single bit of maintenance work. Don't buy into the hype, get some knowledge first.

@@tomrek5080 the valve clearances changed to the longer intervals with the introduction of the Panigale family of supersports. If you want the extreme long end of the service intervals, look at the last two generations of the Multistrada with the 1200/1260 DVT engines or the V4 if you like. I've been a Ducati fan for over 25yrs now, and an owner of a 2005 Monster. I'm looking at getting my hands on a '19-20 Multistrada 1260S, I don't like the idea of the 19" front wheel of the Multi-V4, but that's personal preference.

Make sure they are still running correctly and at the correct spacing. Also includes an oil change, air filter change. Complete bolt check, Coolant flush and change.... There is a long list of service they did that I didn't keep in the video. It's like a complete engine and bike rebuild. with 2-3 guys working on the bike it still took nearly 7 hours.
