thanks for this great video. . Very interesting! I Followed al the steps and seem to be working for one of my VSTs (sylenth1) However I would like to have a different template for each of my vst insruments, that gets automaticly loaded when selecting another track in cubase i am not sure if this is something that should be working automaticly - and so i am doing something wrong - or that it is simply not possible?

I have the novation SL MK3 with cubase - nuendo and it’s working great in a similar way however I don’t need to use the cubase midi templates I use midi cc learn in the vst for faders ADSR and knobs , so for omnisphere adsr AMP is cc 20,21,22,23 for all 8 tracks and by selecting the midi channel input it will just affect that track , advantage with novation is that it has 8 faders and 4 led screens each with two tracks, fully adjustable and you can save the templates in the novation , you can run up to 8 independent APRs , or variations as needed 3 ARPS two sustained drones with latch and have three more tracks to perform over that, and you have 3 x16 midi outs ( usb, midi 1, midi 2 ) channels ,

Nice, not sure I would want to do this process with all my software-gear, I rather just buy synths and just control them form the interface that was specifically designed to control. But it is cool that it can be done.

I already got a bit of this two-way information exchange from your first video on MIDI Remote. I set up my Maschine Studio to control Mute/Solo for the currently active track, and when I use the same functionality in Cubase, it results in the controller showing the status (properly highlighted button) as well. Not using the knobs yet, but I'll come back here when it's time to. :) Cheers!

For the buttons pretty much identical. For the knobs it doesn't work as well for Maschine MK3, because the Maschine MK3 hasn't implemented the "Relative" mode the same as the Komplete Kontrol MK2 and MK3. So for the knobs in Maschine, you have to use Absolute mode - and that can end up making the controls a bit jittery. But otherwise the process is pretty similar.

Interesting - thanks! However, does it really make sense if every one of us spends days on configuring different pieces of hardware controllers with different types of instruments? This work should be done once and the files should be provided by Cubase - at least for the most popular controllers. This would be highly appreciated!

Unfortunately most of the time, we're left to integrate products from different hardware and software manufacturers by ourselves. So reality is simply not perfect.

Give it a try, it should only take you a half an hour to set up a template thanks to Nico! Go check his link, he has some templates too.

Ableton has something similar with the Plus 3, check Loopops vid in the description. As for the Mk3 stuff, I'll have to take a look at that!
