The Driver Syndicate Trailer (Driver 20th Anniversary)

Fanmade trailer to not only celebrate Driver's 20th anniversary (June 25 in EU and June 30 in NA) but also Driver Syndicate, a spiritual successor to Driver that at it's essence, is a love letter to the entire series.
Driver Syndicate is created by InspirationByte, also known as SOAP and it runs on his very own Equilibrium engine. Mainly pulling inspiration from Driver 1 & 2, it's a short but sweet dive back into an experience like that of early Driver games, with some basic driving games and freeroam to play with, backed up by fully functional traffic and cop AI to make things lively.

To answer some common questions and murmurs I see in the comments and to provide accurate information that you might find useful: Q: Is this an official Driver game or affiliated with Ubisoft in any way? A: No, it has been created solely by SOAP and tested with the help of the community. Besides using few assets from older Driver games, it has been built completely from the ground up. Q: What kind of a name is Soap, eh? How'd a muppet like him pass through selection? A: ... Q: Is it free? Where do I get it? A: Yes! It is and you can get it by either expanding & following the description to grab it directly, or go to the Discord, or Driver Madness topic also provided links to in the summary. Q: What's in it so far? A: Various driving games, free ride, the notorious parking garage mission and an early, WIP version of the city it takes place in, along with different weather types - all populated by traffic & pedestrians (latter not seen in the video). Also Film Director, clearly. Q: Is there a story? A: Not yet, but story mode is in consideration. Q: Can I modify it? A: Indeed! It comes featured with SDK, that unfortunately doesn't have much documentation yet but there's discussion in the Discord regarding aspects of it. Q: What about contributions? Hey olanov, is it able to run on Mac? If not, try using crossover, it is a way to run Windows applications, eg; forza horizon, gta, and driver sf too, but because crossover costs money, try using a legit free version, called porting kit, it uses a system where you run the .exe on a engine used for the .exe.

Memoquin the crew could be considered a new driver game, reflections had a hand in it and the fast travel system is similar to shifting in Driver San Francisco.

Although the fast travel system is similar to that of shift and kind of decent, I can't say the same for the rest of the game honestly. Which part of the game Reflections *exactly* had a part in the game, I don't know but if they were in charge of the physics & handling, it honestly doesn't hit that Driver standard even close. Cars are near glued to the road (even worse in The Crew 2) and the handling is far from that sweet mix of hollywood, arcade & realism, what I'd compare to in previous Driver games. I can't even begin to consider it as a new Driver game, it does the driving so poorly. It could be they didn't have much hand in that and instead did level design & other support like with The Division 1 & 2, or like in W_D, they only were working the vehicle art itself, not the handling as far as I know.

Driver was one of the games which inspired the beginning of GTA series. Apparently, Rockstar couldn't get over this for a long time :P Honestly, I wish we finally get the new one, would be great. There's been a vacancy on the action crime themed games scene for a couple of years now, GTA doesn't have a competition amongst the current games and we need to change that

I believe one of the earlier dev reports mentioned something about missions, plus the menu features a reserved "Undercover" spot, although there are no missions yet. Except for the notorious parking garage test.

Having tried this, I am so impressed with how the physics side of things have been completely nailed. At a first glance, it genuinely felt like the original engine from Driver 1/2 completely re-written from the ground up for modern computers/GFX cards. Drivers physics had a highly distinctive bouncy/slidey feel to them which I feel this has nailed right down to an absolute T. Will be keeping an eye on this one :)

actually looks very promising for a fan made game. I just played the alpha and i played the driver games back in the 90s when they came to ps1. Really nice to have a slight visual upgrade. The music is basicly from the original game but there are several new car models. Not sure how gamers nowadays take it but as ive practically grown up with driver 1and 2 this is really a great tribute. Lets see where the project will head to and if it ever comes to a complete product. The last driver game I really enjoyed was San Francisco as from Driver 3 onwards it tried too hard to copy GTA but failed. It should have sticked to its 70s roots music and cars and probrably also storywise
