This video was developed to support the launch of The Benevolent Society's 2017 foundational research into the drivers of ageism. The Benevolent Society is building a long term multi-platform campaign, beginning in 2018, to tackle ageism in Australia. The research project was developed to provide an evidence base to inform the development of that campaign. This video was developed to support the launch of the research.

I've been subjected to ageism since my 29th birthday and I resent it. Nowadays it's mainly from my older brother who tells me at my age my life is as good as over. It's not and I've booted him out of my life 😀

Congratulations on raising ageism in Australia. Its a whole of society issue that's not going away. However, many older people themselves are sometimes their own worst enemy by not looking at "Changes" consciously-spiritually-personal development. This said by 72 year old passionate person.

This is a brilliant video! I wish they would show this to high school and college students in the U.S.

They probably do. Considering that Americans out of all nationalities have it easier than anyone else. Life is hard in the so called lucky country down under. Our ageism is likely worse which is why we have videos like this.

Hi Raven. I took my first degree aged 30 and only received ageist comments from the older students. They referred to the younger students as ' ahhh they're only babies' that, to me, is ageism too. Best regards.

i can't find anything that talks about the subtle ageism where people of some undefined age are patronisingly labelled "the elderly" or "older" and just how much the prejudice that often hides presumably informs how "younger" people regard people older than themselves. Its not all about systemic care issues and where the drivers push it is it? Its the "younger" people that need to be asked to notice their language and prejudices that seems to be driving it - but this video is nearly all focusing on the "older" people!

At age 40, the outside physical body, starts to age. It happens to each of us, not much to do or worry about it. My dad retired after 50 years of work, my hero.

No you don't start to age at 40. You age since you are born. The toxic mindset that is part of ageism is to define fixed ages where things happen. It's a selffulfilling prophecy that affects people negatively.
