Only Gareth Liddiard could use lyrics like 'thou will find one self-perturbed by less verbose calamities' and talk about baked beans in the same song. For me that sums up whats so good about this band - a level of musical sophistication that can be hard to find in this country, combined with good ol' aussie down-to-earthedness.

I honestly can't think of a single band working today who are better than The Drones. Everything you expect from music - they nail it. Their music is emotionally resonant, well written and well played, original, hugely enjoyable and warm, poetic, relevant, and even challenging. I love them.

11 years later do you still think so? I think there is still a case for it.

Heard this song while I spent a year in Melbourne. Took another year of listening to triple j best Australian songs of all time to rediscover it. One of my favourites.

Great radio session, Excellent quality. Thanks for sharing this. Was absolutely stoked when this band walked out as late additions to support Neil Young 2x recently in Melbourne..... Can't wait to see them next week headlining a full set.

For people asking about the suicide is painless video, I'm pretty sure the audio is on the cd: Triple J: Like A Version Five. Its kinda cheap on discogs, I've thought about buying it just for that song but shipping to the USA is kinda expensive. If you buy one first upload it :)

@enaznazz to be honest it's a lot better now with all the media sources we have now(for instance someone shared this on Facebook, i just pressed on this link, never having heard The Drones 'which i love'). So therefore we just have to go looking it, or eventually it will come to us, and for the time being i think it's kind of special knowing your'e a part of a minority which collectively have the same interests :)
