Deadly movie. So proud of Leah Purcell. Represent sister. Our people are proud. She was born in the same town as my mother. This was her take, her reimagining of the short story of Henry Lawson The Drover’s Wife Inspired by her own experiences and the stories of her ancestors. So proud of the white women who stood up for her. This is but one representation of what happened in those days to many original Australians 🖤💛❤️

The World needs to take note. This is the first Western. Led by a female and about the struggles of a female. Absolutely beautiful. Gut wrenching and hauntingly brilliant. Australia had a wild west more wilder then Tombstone.
@user-jz4kw7dv9u Жыл бұрын
There have been LOTS more westerns about the struggles of females led by females before this one.. ‘Bad Girls’ with Drew Barrymore and Andy McDowell and ‘Jane Got a Gun’ with Natalie Portman just to name a few. Your comment is way off! 🙈 Especially saying ‘the world needs to take note’ like this has never been done before..🙈😂

How could they make an entire movie out of Lawson's short story, I wonder. I read this for my Masters' degree. The narrative succeeds as a short story precisely because its pointedness, precision of treatment. I wonder if the much larger dimension of a movie would be able to sustain that effect.
@gospelofrye68813 жыл бұрын
Short stories often turn out to make the best movies. You can hit all the ideas and plot points, include all the characters, and deliver the "message" of a short story, which is usually much clearer than a full novel.
