No jokes, no fun, guys. Ryan was shouting "DESTROY ERASE IMPROVE" at me on Facebook Messenger every time I sent him tracks. It got to a point where I wouldn't send him an update for a week or two, but he'd still continue, as if coaching me through life or asserting a strange form of dominance. My phone is loaded with heavily compressed 240p FLAC files of Ryan slamming his fists down on his desk, quoting Meshuggah, at times cryptically so. He really is a different guy behind the scenes, like Christian Bale or Ted Danson.

It's always interesting to see other people's process when it comes to mixing. I think this video shows a pretty good case for using samples, they are there to enhance the performance instead of straight up replacing the drummer
