Thanks for takeing us on the journey dude. Be cool to have an interview with the drummer on how important a tech is etc and what he looks for . Enjoy the holidays man.

Considering that the drummer is Luke Holland, he kinda started on KZbin, I wouldn't be surprised of him being down for that.

Nothing beats your videos brother - the consistency, what feels like like the calm nature of being back on tour, I love these videos so much man. So much micro-knowledge & little bits of expert level teching I've taken away from only 5 months of watching your videos than I'd learnt by myself, teching for myself, for over 10 years! I really hope you continue these videos for many years to come for many others to find inspiration!

Honestly, it'd be A-ok with me if the entire video was bird song. Except for the tuning. And the crew's jam sesh. Oh, I forgot about the gates/triggers tutorial. Catering needs to be raw audio as well. You get the point! The bird song beneath the teching footage is the unexpected happy place my soul has been yearning for. I support your stance on salads 100%. Are your in-ears Shure 425s? See you on down the road! In the meantime, my your life be blessed with exquisitely crafted Reubens, the sandwich of champions.

Thanks for all the details. Really use this: with 6 rehearsals a week and 1 gig, I am walking around with stuff all days. Missing floor tom was shocking. This last show of the tour there was a different atmosphere; people were like anonymous looking around; perhaps to see if there was something out of vision/control. Watch extra a. with more than 1 crew/band and b. at last show. Some people are jealous of your batlle and some should have known there was no light / fire show so ....we can take that floor tom. Did see this last time some people were showing they also know things about your job and ...who will be tech next tour? Some of the crew did support you very good! Thanks for these video's.I also think there is a kind of competition between main act and crew and supporting act and crew.

As a physics major I was surprised that Snareweight called the weights , drum dampENers. They don’t make the snare wet (dampen), they reduce ringing ( damp ). It is a common mistake but drives my physics nerd mind crazy. Thanks for the great videos!!
@MikeP205511 ай бұрын
Hahaha! I can't speak to the dampening assertion, but your comment cracked me up because I'm a neurotic nerd as well. Unfortunately, my neurosis is far more douche-y; grammar patrol. 🤦♂️ Like using "less" instead of "fewer." Or "that" when it should be "who." ('The drum tech WHO makes the great videos.') It's "all right," not "alright." And don't even get me started on the proper usage of "bring" versus "take!" The English degree synapses within my stupid brain can't help it. And the fact that I'm a mediocre writer makes it 10 times worse. 😂✌️
@douglee2164 ай бұрын
TBH, the word dampen was used correctly. Check a dictionary.
@stephenstange41944 ай бұрын
@@douglee216 yes and no. First, thanks for the call out because I was overly simplistic in my initial post. DampEN as a verb does carry a secondary meaning of to make less intense (or several variations there of depending on the dictionary). However, that is not what is happening here. The leather pads do not make the drum overall less intense or quieter. What they do is make the “ringing” go away faster. Every dictionary I checked for the verb damp, provides a definition along the lines of “to check the vibration or oscillation of something “ (Webster). This is what these pads are doing none of the dictionaries I checked has this definition for dampen, but they all did for damp. I trust this explanation didn’t dampen your enjoyment of the video and hopefully it’s clarity will damp the seemingly ubiquitous back and forth nature of social media comment wars 🤤 Thanks for calling out my sloppy definition!

is it me or you can hear the FOH guy tune down the snare during soundcheck? I think you mention something about that in a previous video, it's pretty cool to hear it in action
@matthorndrums11 ай бұрын
That's exactly what is happening! Good ear, man. The drummer likes his snare to have a lot of rebound, but we lose a bit of body in doing so, so our FOH pitches the snare down.
