An old Mike Cross song. Mike has recorded it a couple of times, but the version that Jessie learned it from was probably Bryan Bowers, recorded live at The 1980 Winfield National Flat Picking Festival and on his "Home, Home On The Road" LP. Bryan does the "ring ding diddley i dee o" line a wee bit differently than Mike. The proper title for the song is "The Scotsman", not "The Drunken Scotsman". I'm sure Mike would approve of Jessie's version - Great job Jessie

Great rendition. Perfect voice for this performance! Good for you to stay on key for the whole thing. Ye couldn't ha' bin drinkin' all that much at this point in the party. While This feels like an authentic Scottish drinking song, it was actually written by a Carolina songwriter named Mike Cross in 1979, Look for Mike Cross's CDs or go online, because he writes some great funny songs.

First off that was great!! I can't believe the folks let you sing that but hey its our heritage. I'm cut from the same cloth.. Second I don't normally go typing my family's history in a comment section but your video got my attention. So.. on my father's mothers side( my grandma) its all immigrants from Scotland and Norway. Her parents, my great grandmother was from Scotland/Ireland and my great grandfather was from Norway met in New York at Ellis Island.... On my dads father's side(my grandpa) its all English and Scottish from Maine that came over from England hundreds of years ago and have been in New England ever since.. So my dad is half Scottish and a quarter English and a quarter Irish I suppose in lamens. My mothers side is French/Indian( Native American)German and Irish. So I got a quarter Scottish in me and a quarter Irish and then the rest is English,French,German and Native American. My last name though is as English as old English can be so I've always been shown our English coat of arms but I always knew we had other bloodlines in our family and I've always been interested in learning about them. Sorry for the long post but its cool to see other family's that are about there history.
