Great video. I like the technique of the double surgeon's knot and then the overhand knot to get the tag end perpendicular.

Good video, thanks. A tip that has helped me is to not use a triple surgeon's knot when joining two pieces of Fluorocarbon line. A double will do ya and decrease the chance that the line will break at that junction. Nylon tippet does not seem to be adversely affected as fluoro.

Do you have any tutorial video how to do the euro nymphing leader ?

Great video. I am not sure what you will cover in the other videos, a few examples of dries and nymphs that you might pair up would be useful. Thanks.

Great tip thank you! We might be expanding this series to more videos so we will definitely take that into consideration. Cheers

I often have my leaders or tippets break when I tie them to a tippet ring, even when lubricated I find that some weakening happens when i tighten down the clinch knot. Is there a different knot or way to attach line to the sighter? Last time I went out I had to tie on a very small barrel swivel in place of the tippet ring after several knots in a row broke.

I have a friend that bought a bunch of really cheap tippet rings off Amazon and they were terrible. Don’t know if this is your problem, but there is a wide difference in quality, although I think the trend is getting better. I’ve used Riverge rings for years. They’re great.

Great vid thanks. Where in SA do you buy the coloured Amnesia. Want to use it for my leader line.

Great topic, with very valuable info, we’ll delivered; and I wish I could have watched the entire thing, but I am sad to say I gave up mid-way thru the leader tying because of the annoying background music.

So with a standard euro rig with a dropper tag doesn’t the slack in the tippet that is tied to the dry fly cause you to miss takes on the nymph? How to better detect strikes without switching to inline?

Hello, do you use a small euro thin fly line or do you use a weight forward? double taper? thanks .......
@pierrejoubert3943 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim, sorry for only replying to you now! The ideal line is a small Euro line as you call it. But, if you're going to be fishing at really close distances, like I do, you'll only be using the leader and no fly line. In this case you can use any fly line really. In my case, it's an inexpensive double taper line.

Sorry, I’m a bit confused. Why do a video on a dry dropper rig under the title of Euro nymphing 101? Isn’t the whole idea behind euro “nymphing” to indicate when your subsurface flies have been taken by a fish? Otherwise, just watch your dry fly.

never trust anyone who fish's one of these rods! they are terrible and not just because they are cheap.. TFO also has cheap ass rods but at least they function as a flyrod and not a shit stirring stick which is what these rods are
