Just found this video-SAME thing happening in our dryer, eating towels, and other fabrics-did you find a fix? I wonder if I could cut a piece of material with similar arc and remove the plastic vent housing, slip it in, so its SANWICHED between plastic and wall of dryer, to FILL the gap?

that could work. The ultimate problem for me was the fact that the cover was simply not tightly attached and the fabric was getting caught on the "gaps" between the cover and the dryer wall. I considered caulking or using something that would fill the gaps, but luckily in my case it was an easy fix. I could not think of a material that would stand up to the high temps int he dryer. Good luck.

how about threads holding screws on plastic plate. are they stripped or threaded?

Sorry I took so long to reply. I am not certain what you are asking. I believe you are asking if the holes that the screws thread into are stripped or damaged. Mine were not damaged, I was able to crank down on the screws without any slippage. If they were damaged and you could not tighten the screws adequately, that might cause the same problem as the plastic vent would not be snug to the wall of the dryer, thereby leave a gap.

you might be better served buying a new plastic plate.
