The pool repair part cracked me up! I have a "side gig" I do with my SCUBA gear of patching people's pools. I can't tell you how many times the homeowner has told me stories like this that they TRIED before calling me! Wife standing on husbands back, a belt of bricks tied to their waist, that garden hose trick, etc! After repairing 800 - 900 pools over the past almost 2 decades there have been dozens of those stories I've heard! Hilarious!

I can understand the shoe joke . My dad was from West Virginia and his first new pair of shoes ( not hand me downs from his older brothers ) was when he lies about his age and joined the army at 16 . He was also not allowed to wear shoes during the summer because it would wear them out . Those were different times , he passed last year at the age of 93 .

My daddy join army 15, when his older brother did, back then it was easier, he made it to Germany finish boot camp before his mom figured it out, and they caught up with him there and honorable discharged him at 16 . So he join the marines at 18 and did 2 tours in nam. Miss him
