Funny thing about the "Kano stealing his gear from Hsu Hao" thing is in MK9 it's shown that Kano is the one who constructs the gear that keeps Kabal alive and gives him his speed which shows that Kano is an incredibly competent kraftsmen and made his own gear after all. It's another good ret con by NRS that may have not even been intentional.

Reiko imo is different where most the other characters were disliked from the moment they appeared. In MK4 he was done well and people were really curious about this new character but after that he is made to look like a Shao Kahn fan boy kosplayer when people aren't watching in the later games.

Both of them were indeed a force to be reckoned with at first, their goal of hunting down Quan Chi for betraying them is pretty much like Scorpion’s. They did some things: 1. Defended Quan Chi from Scorpion with the promise of liberation. 2. Entered Outworld and attacked/devoured any unlucky inhabitants they crossed paths with. 3. Encountered Cyrax and Li Mei, but failed to kill either of them. 4. Agreed to serve as Shang Tsung’s back up defense against Quan Chi and are patiently awaiting their opportunity. 5. Like you said, their combined might brought down Scorpion and hurled him into the soulnado. Now NRS has reduced them to being mere goons for Quan Chi’s before he eliminates them ( totally irony).

Kintaro replaced Goro after Goro was defeated by Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat. He is the only member of his race seen thus far to have unique features. Unlike Goro and Sheeva, Kintaro has tiger striped markings all over his body as well as sharp fangs, claws and feline-like feet. According to his Mortal Kombat (2011) bio, this is indicative of the lower-class Tigrar clan of Shokan, differing from the more elite-class Draco clan that Goro and Sheeva belong to, so there are likely more of his kind out there. It should be noted that in each new game, his feline features stand out more than the last. So saying Kintaro is a clone is minor stupid

Yeah it's weird that when we see Shokan soldiers that they are Draco and not Tigrar as you would then expect to see more of the common class among larger groups. Unless the Draco are the warrior and ruling caste and the Tigrar are the servile caste. Perhaps Kintaro is an an increadible oddity being so great of a warrior that he has been elivated to the higher caste.

Sorry mate, he's a clone (even down to stealing Goro's move animations back in the original trilogy). There's nothing wrong with being a clone and a good deal has been done to differentiate him from Goro, much like with other clone characters like Street Fighter's Ken and Tekken's Armor King

Always felt a good chunk of the 3D-era characters were kind of lame but could be vastly improved with just a few changes if they were brought back. A lot of cases of "good (or at least decent) ideas, bad execution." Reiko being one of the main offenders there. I can see what they could do with him to make him really cool, it just hasn't been realized yet.

I actually think characters like Mavado, Kira, and Reiko have a lot of potential to be better characters and grow their stories so that they can have more unique roles within the world of MK. Mavado could be like a close friend to Kabal when they were part of the Black Dragon. Kira could be Kano’s protégée and step up as a Black Dragon second in command. And Reiko, well, you already have the story of him being a Shao Kahn worshipper. It’s just sad the games never really did anything with them.

Kira was already a Red Dragon member and was basically working with Kobra alongside Kabal where I think both were Kabal's protégées. I believe their endings had them killing the other as part of Kabal's final training.

He's also really fun to play in a dumb way in Deadly Alliance. A ridiculously long back dash, one of the few good projectile attacks in the game, annoying ground pound. He gets no combo strings, just normals, the only character in the game with this trait, but he also gets an infinite combo despite this. Oh, and that infinite can be started with a normal, a projectile, or the ground pound. The dude is wacky and I really want to see him back.

Reiko was cool in the MKX comics. Kintaro MKII was excellent. He just crushed you as the emperor watched. He roared at the top of his lungs after jumping off screen and crashing down on your head. All of it to the pleasure of the blood thirsty crowd. Ever since MKII he has lost his appeal. They keep adding more feline characteristics to him making him look less intimidating. Drahmin and Moloch are like you said, excellent in appearance. They even have interesting backgrounds, especially Drahmin. A cursed club wielding warlord who was banished to 5th plane of hell for his cruel deeds in life. Now Donning the Kun Lo mask to cool his murderous rage. He has made a deadly alliance with the savage Oni, Moloch. Its just their gameplay was not good. I would like to see them in the future. Even if they aren't playable. Maybe appearing in a stage that is an underground layer. They could both be chained to either side of the stage and be used as environmental attacks/hazards.

MK Armageddon made Jarek actually unique in terms of moves and design. He was no longer a Kano clone He is a master of unblocking moves. I really like to play as Jarek in that game. I like the idea of Mavado. A high ranked member of a criminal organization who doesn't need special powers. He just fights with martial arts and his gadgets. That's cool. Also I like his ropes. About Kira, I agree she needs a new moveset but I would prefer to see her instead of seeing Kano always coming back. Also, HER DESIGN IS GREAT!

To the list of dumbest characters I would add Kobra,Darrius and Dairou. Hotaru is honestly kind of redeemable if he is done again but right next time. Kira could have the potential of an interesting female Black Dragon and Reiko could be very interesting to the story. But there are some characters that I really want to come back better than ever and they are Drahmin, Havik, Shujinko(he has a lot of things going for him even if he is kind of hated for his desicions in the konquest mode), Li Mei, Sareena, Ashrah. Make it happen Netherealm. I want to see some of them come back in MK12

A cool way to bring Hsu Hao back would be to make him a triple agent. He went through SF training with Jax (they are buddies) and now works undercover in the Black Dragon, passing on intel, blowing up depots etc. But TWIST hes been working for Daegon of the Red Dragon the whole time. In the story you could have him almost caught by Jackie, but then he kills her with his chest cannon framing her as the double agent and 'saving' the SF team. For his moves give him full on wrestling/nightclub bouncer moves, one handed choke slams, bear hugs, pile drivers, knees to the face, etc

Moloch and Drahmin did defeat Scorpion, and nearly perminantly killed him. So gotta give them that. I mean, throwing him into the soulnado channeling souls from heaven nearly destroyed the Spectre's soul (the purity of the heavens would completely destroy the corrupted netherealm soul). That's probably the only way to truly kill Scorpion. Normally he'd just respawn back in the netherealm.

No offense, but I believe Kai had WAY more potential than Reiko EVER did as a character. Like I've said if Kai had Jax's ending in MK11 and Jax had an ending that SUITED his character better, Kai could have become an endearing character and Jax would just be better. Also Kai could've had Cyrax's MK9 ending and it would work. I'd make him tight with Nightwolf and Fujin. We already know he's Lui Kang's boy, but maybe he could get "annoyed" with Johnny Cage like Lui Kang, but than see the good in him because of Lui Kang's teachings. I'd imagine there'd be a slight jealousy issue with Kung Lao and exasperate the issue by having him train Kung Jin. Maybe Kung Jin could have a bit of an interest; which led to his banishment from the Wu Shi Academy in the FIRST place, due to Kai's input; if you get my drift. LOTS of story potential, but NRS won't do it.

I always liked Reiko’s design in Armageddon and I liked him in the Comics. But what they could have done to make Reiko an interesting character is if they (as dark and as messed up as it sounds) had him be the Son of Shao Kahn and Sindel, that would have at least made his MK4 ending more interesting and meaningful.

So little interesting tidbit about mavado is he didn’t even kill Kabal. Kabal just stayed down so he could recreate the black dragons before coming back in deception to murder the crap out of Mavado. His corpse is even in Kabal’s description card if you look at the full art

As bad as the Oni characters are, I do like the idea of playing as them. Outside of Scorpion, Quan Chi and Noob Saibot, the Netherrealm has never really had any representation. I wouldn't mind one really good demon character in every game!

He was a joke character and also meant to prove the quote not to "judge a book by its cover." He's MORE than what he seems; even training Shujinko; something he never gets credit for. Also he MAY have trained Shang Tsung too. He DID train all the heroes in MKDA; his first appearance, but that's probably not the BEST example; seeing as how they all died and the Deadly Aliance managed to score a victory over the heroes. He DID however rescue Li Mei and fought valiantly against Onaga's armies in Outworld; even if he was manipulated by Mileena to be nothing more of a diversion tactic for the heroes while Onaga made preparations for his Konquest. Ok I GET the level of hate, but you gotta admit he WAS pretty cool I'm MKX... BEFORE being killed offscreen by Shinnok.🤦‍♂️

I remember that too. That would've been cool. Also instead of Shao Kahn having a "clone" in MKDA that gets killed by the Deadly Aliance in his place whilst he hides and heals; what if Reiko VOLUNTEERED to be his duplicate, somehow survives, and that's why he's seen wearing Shao Kahn's outfit in Armageddon's story mode? Makes MUCH more sense to the plot and the character and revamps a skill Shao Kahn shouldn't have had. Now if we just Re-write the whole stupid BLOOD MAGIC crap from an ability that Shao Kahn SOME HOW has, despite it CLEARLY should be a Kotal Kahn trait, we'd be good. Also Kotal wasn't really needed as a rival to Shao Kahn. I see him as a God-like figure that Kai and his people once worshiped. Kai, however, was less of a follower and always suspected Kotal as a charlton. He could have a rivalry with him. Maybe Kai loves Jade and envies Kotal. Maybe KOTAL once mislead Nightwolf's people when they lost faith in the Matoka and Nightwolf became bad following Kano at one point. LOADS of potential, but NRS dropped the ball again

Dumber characters: Dairou, Darrius, Kobra, Taven, Daegon. They're all just so painfully boring. Jarek falls in that bucket too. I love that you want them to bring dumb characters back though. That's always been my position too. I love MK too much to be satisfied with garbage characters exist as garbage forever. Bring them back, revamp them, make them awesome. Meat has always been one of my favourites though. His Armageddon rendition was the direction I'd want them to lean: Big ole cleavers, eyeball stretched (or other cartoonish self-injury) to heal/buff, and turning his head into a projectile. I know Frost does the latter now, but they're fundamentally different enough that I think it's fine.

Nah, Kintaro is cool. He adds this new dimension to the Shokans, that there are different clans with different features. I like that a lot. He's not unique from a gameplay perspective, but he makes the Shokans more interesting, and I really like that.

Darius being a Seidan rebel is alright but his design doen't fit it at all. I actually like Hotaru and the Seidan Guard idea a lot and don't think he needs much work at all and the same goes for Havik. Kronika and Geras could never return and I would not care.

I think Reiko had a lot going for him before they turned him into a joke character for MKA. He was one of the best looking characters in MK4 and super mysterious with the old-school ninja garb but no mask and those weird glowing eyes. I'm not sure why they turned him into a general for Kahn though, cuz based on his MK4 appearance it would seem like he had more of a connection with the Brotherhood of Shadow, even the symbol for it is on his outfit. It's also on the throne he sits at in his ending, which is peculiar. Obviously he was intended to be more directly connected with Shinnok but I guess they abandoned that idea when they decided to sweep MK4/MKG under the rug.

Hsu Hao being a severed head in intros and mentioned as insult for Kano is one of the most funny thing about post playable Hsu Hao, he some how still had a presence.

MK kind of has a problem where the size of its universe relative to the size of its roster is just too big. While most fighting game series have extensive lore and multiple organizations that characters may belong to, few have to flesh out multiple realms, each with their own organizations and conflicts. Many of MK's characters seem to have been created to flesh out these organizations - adding more reps from the Black Dragon, the Netherrealm, Order and Chaos realms, Outworld and so on - and the necessity for more representation means that some of them just won't be very fleshed out.

I think these characters can be redeemed. Even Hsu Hao has some cool weapons and powers and could be awesome if he was changed. Kira could be cool if they give her a more unique set of weapons. Even Kobra. My vision for a Kobra redesign is that he has a more rough “street punk” aesthetic than a Ken-ripoff look. Play up his psychotic and sadistic side and have him fight with a bat covered in barbed wire or something.

A must add that not only Reiko, but Jarek also had a redesign in MK-A. They even go further, which make them completely new characters that you wouldn't know who they are if not by their name labels. The same they did with Stryker, as far as I remember. And, about Jarek and Mavado, I think that maybe they were having copyright issues or something, so they killed Kano and Kabal and replace them with clones. I couldn't find another explanation. They have issues regarding Raiden's name before after all.

Drahmin was always interesting to me. His lore states he was the war lord in the old times. I think that’s such a cool concept. Before there were true “leaders”, he was simply the leader because the universe was an anarchist war haven and he happened to be the most war-torn. In the modern universe, due to being primal, he’d have no power. But it’s cool to see how he had power back before things got super crazy.
