Hollywood romanticizes serial killers and makes us believe that they are all very intelligent and merhodic. There are those, but there are killers that are just incredibly dumb and desorganized. They are just not as "fascinating" to make movies about. However, I do agree that like one of you said, it felt like "Oh, so he is bad now. That's it" The story didn't work.

So in case you didn't know Craigslist back in the early 2000s had a "personals" section. This was way before "hook up" apps like Tinder, Plenty of Fish, Grindr etc. It was a real thing and you could look for people in your area. Around 2013 or 2014 If I remember correctly a law was passed that BLOCKED Craigslist from having any kind of "sex work" or "escort" type service on the website so that ended Craigslist having the "Personals" section on their page.

The funniest part about this movie for me is seeing Jake McDorman play the Craigslist Killer because I've met him in real life, and he is absolutely one of the sweetest people I've ever met XD For Lifetime Movies, I suggest Girl Fight (based on a true story), Odd Girl Out, Speak (based on a book), Starving in Suburbia, and Death Clique (based on a true story). I used to watch Lifetime movies ALL the time with my mom, and these are some of my favorites throughout the years! I'll throw in bonus films that I think you guys would make great reactions to Cyber Seduction: His Secret Life and A Mother's Nightmare.

Been waiting on this one! Another Lifetime movie I definitely recommend is, 'An Amish Murder.' Neve Campbell is the main character. Another is, 'Amish Grace.' Kimberly Williams-Paisley is the main character. (Brad Paisley's wife.) It is a, 'Fact-based drama based on the aftermath of a shooting at an Amish school in Pennsylvania.' Heartbreaking but beautifully made. Love your channel! 🖤

The original or the remake? I think the 1979 original opening 17 minute's is one of the best horror movie openings ever it actually gave me chills but the rest of the movie is just blah... the remake is great

@@LissetteXO98 The saddest part about Girl in the Basement is that the movie version is even nicer than the real story. Usually movies dramatize situations to make them seem even worse. In this case, they made her living situations look like a 5 star upgrade, and the torture/abuse she went through was noooothing in comparison to the truth. My heart goes out to her family.

"He was a bad killer" I mean if this is his first and only kill it makes sense. Usually first kills are clumsy. But the actor for Phillip literally looks exactly as the real one, they chose a good actor.

Markoff did not plan to kill any of the women he robbed. He only killed one woman - ONE - because he lost his cool after Julissa Brisman tried to fight him and overpower him. Markoff had lost control of the situation and he shot Brisman before he could think it through. Markoff had opportunities to kill other women after killing Brisman and remaining on the loose. But he didn't. Id he'd really wanted to, he would have killed more women. After all, he was already wanted for murder. What's a few more murders then? Especially when that shiny future he had ahead of him as a doctor, about to be married to a devoted woman who was actually planning to apply for med school herself, is about to go up in smoke. It takes a ton of work and study and giving up many things in order to make it into med school and to stay there in a prestigious university like Boston - plenty of highly motivated students tp take your place if you flunk out. Markoff had really put a lot of effort and time into his academic studies and plans tp become a doctor. That's a lot to just toss away. Markoff was a lousy criminal - and even more lousy that he messed up and killed someone when that wasn't in the plan, and would only massively increase the risks of exposure/arrest. And the actor here doesn't look like Markoff at all in my opinion. Markoff was tall and more heavily built, had blonde hair, a squarer jaw, slightly beaky nose, and very different eyes. Also, more pink skinned.

On the bright side, Jake McDorman has a recurring role on What We Do In the Shadows and does a great job there! I don't think he's a bad actor, but was miscast (or just didn't try - who knows). Maybe lighter comedies are more in his wheelhouse.

I just watched a show about the real story. It was told from the POV of a girl he used to study with. She said he made her skin crawl. One day, he walked her home and out of nowhere, he forced himself on her. Luckily, her friend was there to save her. Guy was always a creep and he knew what he wanted. So he found whatever ways to get it.

Actually that girl said she chalked it up to alcohol (he'd been drinking earlier - I think they were at a party) because otherwise, he was nothing like that. She said he was nice. That's why they were friends. Well, until that night. Other students and those who knew Markoff were completely shocked and had thought of Markoff as this straitlaced, hard working, polite, smart guy, who was devoted to his fiancee.
