@@OneStopCoopShop There are a lot of fan made scenarios and entire campaigns. Dark Matter is a pretty highly rated one. You can print and play it, or you can get the Arkham Horror TTS mod that has all the campaigns, and a lot of the fan made ones as well.

@@timmyboykid1 oh, gotcha. Thanks for clarifying. I have that mod, but have never done any fan-created content. I don't generally like PNPing things, and I still have a few official cycles I need to finish playing :)

First time I played the museum in opening locked area, I immediately drew cursed luck, obscuring fog, locked door and the curse that kills my character if I run out of cards. Suffice to say Roland just went home.

Sadly I'm not sure if that will happen. In terms of "jobs" on the channel, Colin is the one who does campaign plays with continuing playthroughs. I'm in charge of covering and reviewing new games, so I have to constantly learn new stuff and can't return to my favorites as often as I'd like 😅

"Ashcan Pete is popular in many games". Let's be honest, it's because of Duke 😊. Literally lost Arkham Horror once because Duke was the only companion and we had to sacrifice a companion. We refused.

"Undimensioned and Unseen" (7.75) and "Miskantonic-Museum" (7.5) are in my FLOP10 scenarios while "Essex-County-Express (8.75) is in my TOP10 because of the unique design. So we have a quite similar ranking. I have two 9.0-scenarios and two 7.0-scenarios as best/worst-rated. So still even the worst are still good. One of the 9.0s is in Carcosa, but I won't tell before you made your Carcosa review. ;-)

I've played through this campaign twice. I agree with you on a lot of the points. I personally liked the ending scenario though, with some epic music playing in the background. Curios, do you think the ''return to'' box fixes some of the rougher scenarios a little or not really?
@OneStopCoopShop
@OneStopCoopShop Жыл бұрын
I only played "return to" for dunwich once, so I don't remember too clearly... it certainly as much as an upgrade to me as Forgotten Age, for example. I think my two least favorite scenarios remained just "meh".

I have mixed feelings with AH, I just bought the revised core set, finished first two scenarios. I LOVE the game, but after this I have to spend like 80-100 bucks to get an expansion/investigators, Its insane

It’s my #1 game of all time, but I don’t recommend it to many people. I’ve spent maybe $1000 total on the game over the years. That’s not a feasible number for most people 😅

@@OneStopCoopShop I can easily see that happening, the game is amazing. Quick question, I play solo two handed. After the core set, would buying two investigators starter sets be enough to play the campaing expansions?
@OneStopCoopShop
@OneStopCoopShop 7 ай бұрын
@psfarg oh wait a second, you mean THOSE investigator starter decks. I never bought those. They are a terrible value. What you want to do after the core is pick a campaign that interests you: Dunwich legacy, forgotten age, etc. Get the investigator expansion box and the campaign expansion box for the set. If you get them online that’ll run you under $100 total. Each investigator expansion box includes FIVE new characters and a ton of new cards to add to your deck options. All for MSRP $45 (less online). MUCH better value than those starter decks. I would never buy the starter characters unless you become obsessed with the game and are a completionist

Thanks for the great and concise review! You have yourself a new subscriber! I completely agree about using Jenny in true solo, her versatility is great and I tried with a singleton deck (but on easy) for my first campaign. I just finished the last scenario with her and had a blast. Not gonna spoil anything but it was an amazing finish when I drew the eldritch sign from the bag on my last chance before something really bad happened! 😅 Now, what would be the next solo campaign you’d recommend? 🤔

I did a review of Forgotten Age already, and enjoy that one (though it's also a bit annoying at times). Carcosa is the next one I'm reviewing and that remains one of my absolute favorites. I think either of those is a good one to try next.

The Dunwich Campaign has always struck me as less of a proper campaign, and more of an accessory. An on-boarding tool, if you will. In my comment on the review for Night of the Zealot, I referred to it as both the ur-campaign and a tech demo for what AHLCG could do, and I stand by that. But while Night might've been the showcase, the thing that you show the public when you first announce the game, that isn't necessarily the thing you're building towards when designing a game. I very much feel Dunwich, in the background, was that campaign. Kinda the testbed for "How well does this system handle normal stuff we throw at it?". No spoilers, beyond what you would've seen or heard in the video. I know the development wasn't as streamlined as that; I've read enough developer regrets that they didn't include Exile in the original core so they didn't need to reprint it in every expansion, but it doesn't change the feel I got when playing it. Almost like Dunwich was the game to the core set's console; the game that was developed in step with the system, utilizing it in fairly straight-forward ways. I think you can see that in the number of things which went on to become larger lynchpins of other campaigns; maps changing during scenarios, the proto-exploration deck, the branching story paths which can take you to different adventures. Little things they tried, said "Cool, it works", and moved on to something else, only to polish up when developing other cycles. Even the player cards have that feel of cut content from the core. One of my favorite things about the rereleases has been the separation of campaign and player cards, making it easier to recommend to people that they can get a solid starting cardpool and investigator set by just buying the core and Dunwich player set, instead of the Miskatonic Museum card pack always being out of stock because it had a great card in it and no one caring about the scenario. Dunwich is one of my least favorite campaigns(I'd say least, but Dream-Eaters exists), but I also really, really enjoy the story aspect of AH. I know people who have it as one of their favorites because they prefer the mechanical side, and it's very solid for that, acting as a longer, more refined Night of the Zealot. That's basically how I recommend it. Did you enjoy the mechanical systems with a splash of story in Night of the Zealot? Move onto Dunwich, it's literally more of the same. Otherwise, if you like the story aspect more, look up the sets and buy the one which seems most intriguing or hews closest to the Lovecraft story you enjoy. For my money...I really, really love Carcosa.
