Great Video, I managed the OHV trails on the Sierra National Forest during the 90,s and lived at Dinkey Creek. I patrolled daily in a Forest Service Jeep YJ we built. A couple of summers I spent 6-8 weeks on the Dusy with a 20 person trail shot crew building the wooden bridges and paths to keep the vehicles out of sensitive areas. We also fell a lot of trees to keep people from taking cheater routes on Thompson hill and other places. Ershim is a one of kind Jeep trail, nothing else like it in the world and the Sierra Club and so many other armchair environmentalist groups want to keep us out of that area entirely. Tread Lightly and do what you can whether its a donation or volunteer work to keep those trails open.

Very helpful! We have a group of four vehicles going for our first time. I have been running Rubicon for 30 years, teo and three times per year, nut never done Dusy. We can only afford to take Friday, Sat and Sunday, and hoping to get off the trail early afternoon on Sunday to drive the 8 hours home.

Trying to figure out the best places to camp to budget our time. We will be camped at Voyager Thursday night, hitting the trail early Friday. Is there a good place to camp between Thompson ans Ershim lakes? It seems like it would be too long to try to make Ershim the first night in the trail.

@@kenauto7168 there is a camp between thompson and ershim with a restroom about half way between. We did the trail our first time in 3 days. First night at thompson. Second at ershim. Thompson is a cool lake and the campsite is better than the half way spot which is right on the trail so if anyone is on trail they drive right through your camp. Check road closures before you go. The road at courtright will be closing soon due to construction so only access will be from kaiser pass side through white bark vista.

@@newlion7013 2.3 miles from maxxon trail head at courtright lake. You dont have to air down for that bit, but it will be faster and smoother if you do.
