Where can one of these be found anywhere?
@cthulhu66974 жыл бұрын
@@AquaTech225 Verestulekka.com ( a surplus site in Finland that sells tons of surplus ) has them, as well as lots of really good gear of the military services of many countries around the world. A lot of American surplus is expensive compared to what it goes for here, since they ship around the world and U.S. military gear is foreign surplus to them, I guess. You can find some really good deals on European, Russian, and various world military gear that would cost a lot more here on Amazon, E-Bay, etc....... Shipping from Finland can be expensive but worth it if buying a lot or find something like that European military ruck you've been looking for more than 10 years for $150 U.S. that costs more than 300 here, for example. Their customer service is excellent and they are a great company to deal with

The closure on the pouch is called Spanish tabs. The top one you feed into the closure bracket first and then feed in the smaller tap. This locks the pouch firmly closed.

Until a few years ago it used to say KL (Royal Army), KLu (Royal Air force) and so on plus the year. But they are now using the same stuff everywhere so they changed it to Ministerie Van Defensie. We are probably going to end up with the DFP camouflage soon but they are now in temporary use due to a mistake during tendering.

I read somewhere before as a Scout that if you have odd sized canteen cups...you turn them around on the canteen cup stove so they don't sit low and into the stove...sort of like 2 jelly beans in opposing orientation...

The dutch canteencups comes in 3 different sizes, I believe (from memory) 1950-1969, 1970-1990, 1991 - current. Just slightly different in size (wide) a few millimeters. So covers can fit one size but not the other.

Thank you John for the nice video .Messing with stoves I found that a setup with a svea swedish army stove with the original swedish windsheild with a conjuction of an M59 german cup is my preffered go to kit.Although I like the simplicity of this kit. But the mentioned above kit is absolutely bulletproof.You can switch to wood if you run out of meths and you can sterilize water if neeeded from placing the canteen directly over the fire. Keep those good videos coming. Already subscribed.

Hello John, Nice video. I thought the number 17 on the canteen could be the NATO number for the Netherlands, until you showed the cup. The second sequence of numbers in the NATO stock number is country of origin. 00 or 01 = US, 99 = Great Britain, 21 is Canada, 12 is German, and 17 is obviously the Netherlands. The Dutch camo pattern is a direct copy of British DPM camo, which is the best camo patter ever. ;-)

What are the dimensions of this pouch ( height, width, and front to back ) in inches? I have found a good deal on them on a surplus site and online pictures and videos I've seen don't mention the dimensions. By the look, I'm thinking I can use them to fit 2 or ( fingers crossed ) 3 30 round AK-47 magazines each. It would be an affordable way to have some more extra mag pouches that are MOLLE compatible and have those nice Spanish buckles. Thanks
@John-Sherwood-W4JFS4 жыл бұрын
Hello, the dimensions are 8 inches tall, 4.5 inches wide, and about 3.25 deep. This is with the top flap open and just measuring the pouch inside dimensions. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
@cthulhu66974 жыл бұрын
@@John-Sherwood-W4JFS Yes, thank you, sir. That does help and I believe the fabric will stretch/bellows enough to allow me to fit two, and perhaps even 3, 30 round AK-47/AKM magazines per pouch. With everything being so centered around the AR-15/M-16 here in America, it can be difficult and expensive to find and afford quality gear for the AK-47/AKM. I appreciate you taking the time to answer this, and I feel confident that I will be successful in this endeavor. I thank you again, have a good day.

I have a couple of these steel Dutch mugs. Held up ok after years of use. One of them has a problem, the plate holding the handles in place has come a little loose at one end. Still holds handles in, just. Bad weld perhaps. Any ideas how best to fix it? Have tried couple of things. A rounded bolt head on inside of mug with nut on outside tightened against the plate, then cut short is one idea for example. Solder, glue etc not ideal.
@John-Sherwood-W4JFS5 жыл бұрын
Nick Thorp Well, I guess the best solution is to find a good welder or welding shop and maybe he or she could tack it back in place for you. That might be a challenge depending on your contacts or where you live but that would be best in my opinion since you use it to eat with. Good luck. I hope you are able to fix it.

maybe l´m wrong, but you can try to stick the smaller end from the closure tab/toggle thing thru the U shape buckle on the pouch. it´s little harder to open then, but that´s the purpose of this. better said it hold´s better close, it stays more secure, thats what l wanna say :-) this neat trick you can find on several nato-military-pouches. Hi John, I hope you are doing well. I’m going thru rewatching some of your videos and I was curious about this pouch. Do you know if this pouch would fit the Swiss M84 canteen and cup? I bought 4 of the M84’s after watching one of your videos and I love them. The size is perfect. Do you know of any canteen covers that fit the M84? Thank you
@John-Sherwood-W4JFS4 жыл бұрын
Fireside Coffee sorry about the delayed reply. I got my M84 out and the pouch from this video. I believe it will fit but the flap might tight when closing it because of he gas mask attachment on the cap. The reason I don’t know exactly how it fits is my M84 is now vacuum packed in a bag with the lid off the canteen. I have to store some of my collection in the garage now and I didn’t want the Florida humidity to ruin them. But even with the canteen set in the vacuum bag, the set slides in nicely and looks like it would fit even with the cap on but I’m not 100% sure about how tight the flap would be. I hope this helps enough and thanks for watching!

There is a Dutch utility pouch in woodland cam, it has an extending part on the top with drawstring, it's too narrow for the Dutch canteen & cup - for that I have the proper Dutch pouch - but it does fit the M84 canteen and cup perfectly. The label says ''opbouwtas, algemeen, klein'' which means something like ''extendible pouch, general, small''. Apparently it's designed for the MOLLE vest.

Dutch post more reliable than the British! The one modern US style canteen pouch I have (though it was made in Europe) has a cover made out of waterproof material inside you pull up over the top of the canteen to stop dirt getting to it when needed, presumed they'd all be like that, live and learn! Got an old version of the Dutch canteen kit, almost indestructible. Just use a hexamine type stove with it, I think that's what the Dutch used to use, don't know what they use now.

jelkel25 It’s a shame that the package was lost. I just hope it ended up with someone who really needed it. This little set is pretty cool and I agree with you that it’s made very well.
